Matter of taste...
As we all know, a scent perception is a purely subjective sensation. So it is also in art and music, but also in culinary art we have different tastes.
I'm just thinking about salt caramel, which is not popular with many people. They find salt inappropriate. I am one of those who like salted caramel. Salt brings balance to the cardboard-sweet mass, so the sweet-buttery caramel flavor comes to the fore. But as I said, everything is a matter of taste.
This is how I feel about Divine Gaultier. Strong sweet floral rain with fresh sea breeze. I love that there is no vanilla, tonka or powder in the fragrance. I often have my problems with floral scents that then get smothered in sweet vanilla powder. The salt also serves like a balancer here. Yes, Divine is different! The scent doesn't have a big opening, but it stays floral, fresh, and just goes quiet until the end.
