liquid gold
I am also a little sceptical about "fruit scents"; I may not smell as if I had just fallen into a fruit stand.
Only a few exceptions have therefore made it permanently into my collection:
"Vocalise" by Shiseido with its tart blackcurrant note, "English Pear & Freesia" by Jo Malone - the light yellow table pear I love so much enchants me there, especially when combined with delicate freesias - and finally "Framboise Noire": a mysterious raspberry that takes a dark path and which I like to follow there.
So also the first loose contact with "Rare Gold" was a little bit divided in two:
The view of the scent pyramid showed "Oh, so much fruit!"
And the last time I had contact with fragrances from Avon was in my teens: long, long time ago (and what's more than fifty years ago is hereby lumped together like this.)
On the other hand I got this bottling from Yatagan and he already knows what is good for me and what I like.
Yes, Yatagan really knows! Because I'm enchanted by "rare gold"!
I feel surrounded by liquid gold and pampered to the finest degree.
Ripe, fruity-sweet and juicy peaches (whose rich juice you like to lick off your fingers) are accompanied by generous splashes of bergamot and tangerine (an excellent choice!).
The highlight of this prelude, however, is the marriage of these peaches to my darling, my favourite fragrance, Ylang-Ylang: the liquid gold is born with this! Of course gold must shine; again, generous aldehydes make sure of that - this melange of fragrances is already beginning to glitter.
A romantic, feminine flower arrangement now unfolds its beauty: noble gardenia and magnificent, large-flowered jasmine, plus lily of the valley (Hello, beloved little "stinker"!) and tuberose: it is pure flower luxury!
And the always enchanting orange blossoms also contribute heart warmth.
The base note forms a special icing on the cake: all fragrances unite here to form an impressive climax, before Amber lays a golden, exquisitely woven scent net of beauty over the entire composition.
"Rare Gold" is now a fragrant luxury!
Yatagan writes in his statement that the liquid gold becomes powdery over time.
This is not the case with me: "Rare Gold" remains clear and pure for a few hours until it slowly fades - unchanged in its fragrance.
Just as the bright stars in the night sky slowly give way to the morning, this fragrance retreats quietly and nobly to a touch of happiness.
But now it is also known that I do not develop much body heat and my skin has become quite parchment-like in the meantime (the skin of an old white turtle!).
Therefore I can well imagine that this scent goddess reacts quite differently on a different "skin base". Maybe she loses her glow there, which reminds of polished gold, and becomes a little duller and therefore not quite as present and thus quieter, more reserved in her appearance.
This does not necessarily have to be a stain!
"Rare Gold" makes me a diva for a while, anyway! (Yes, friends: I see your smile!)
And I enjoy it; enjoy it to the fullest!
So I start this Sunday in May with a golden glow and pay homage to this fragrant goddess, whom I almost didn't get to know!
