peppery and sweet
JIL seems very peppery modern and rather sweet perfume of a great quality. Reminds me a lot of Maubousin (femme)edp. I can detect a strong musk along with woods which make this one very feminine. My first Jil Sander perfume bough blindly and I like it a lot. The sillage and longevity both above average.

Like sitting on a cloud of cotton candy - DELICIOUS
There are hardly any Jil Sander fragrances that I don't love (not that I tried them all, but I own and owned quite a few and tried quite a lot of them). They make me feel so feminine and evoke a feeling of comfort and coziness. Jil is no exception to that rule. I wore Jil Sander fragrances a lot when I still lived in Germany, and have forgotten about my deep love affair with them for almost 20 years, since I live in the USA (of course I didn't know this particular beauty back then, as it was created after I came here, but it stands for the same quality like all other Jil Sander frags I love and own). Thanks to Ebay and other websites, I rediscovered my love and have to acknowledge now what I knew all along: Jil Sander fragrances are the best fit for me by far, and I restocked these beauties again.

You need to give all Jil frags time to develop. They don't smack you right in the face, but once they unfold their beauty, they are addicting. Same with this one. I am sitting here, writing my review and watching TV, with one wrist up to my nose every other minute or so. I love the almost smoldering grown up vanilla. The powdery aspect adds to the smoothness. I feel like sitting on a cloud of cotton candy, not a too sweet of a treat, but still yummy and fluffy. Lasting power is, like most Jil Sander frags, not the greatest. Even with shower gel, lotion and the juice applied together, I get barely 3 hours out of it, which I only graciously forgive if the scent is at least an A. Jil is an A+, so I totally forgive her the shortcoming in that sector. I absolutely love her!

Powdery Heliotrope and Vanilla
Jil by Jil Sander is such a pleasant surprise. To be honest, I really didn't expect much. I had fobbed this fragrance off as being a typical fresh, 'pink' floral. I'm now happy to admit that my assumptions had been very wrong.

Jil is a sweet, powdery fragrance. Heliotrope is the most dominant note to my nose, followed by warm vanilla, orris root and white musk. In my experience, heliotrope can often smell nutty and delicious when used in perfume. In the past I've mistaken heliotrope for the scent of sugared almonds.

In many ways Jil reminds me of Alexander McQueen's My Queen. Despite the fact that My Queen has a unique violet opening, its drydown is very powdery and foody, not unlike Jil's drydown. I enjoy both of these fragrances equally.

There are rumours going around that Jil may be discontinued very soon. I really hope that is not the case. This is one of the better mainstream fragrances on the market today, and that's saying a lot.

The lavender is almost non-existent in Jil's composition. I smell it only slightly in the drydown, however it's not nearly as aromatic as I thought it would be. What I get from this fragrance is an enveloping sense of warmth and femininity.

The sillage is surprisingly powerful, as is the longevity. I would recommend Jil for the cooler months, however I'd also be game enough to wear it during Spring as well. I highly recommend.

Completely underestimated...
In my opinion, this wonderful fragrance is completely underestimated. At least that was the case for me over the last few years... some time ago, I just sprayed "Jil" in the drugstore. More like passing by and without high expectations... a lovely sweet, but not sugary scent comes towards me. At the same time fresh but not too fresh. Mature, but not old. The lavender note... delightful! In the heart note, the lavender has disappeared, instead it becomes more powdery... I smell a balance that never annoys me in any way. Nothing pushes itself to the forefront. A beautiful scent for the day for a woman who has class, knows what she wants but has nothing stuffy about her. Really lovely. The base then simply becomes soft, gentle, and feminine. This is the fragrance that, by the way, is all the way at the back in "my" Douglas, in the last row and right at the bottom. Sorry, it doesn't deserve that spot! If you feel like I do and have always somehow "overlooked" "Jil," then definitely give it a try! My current everyday go-to....

Delicious, loving, and alluring.
Jil Sander (Heidemarie Siline)

Most successful German fashion designer. She is known for her androgynous style and designs, and I am all the more surprised that she has created such a sensual fragrance. Just looking at the fragrance components already suggests a romantic scent.
I first tested it on a paper strip and found "Jil" to be incredibly boring. Actually as expected, but as an experienced fragrance tester, I sprayed it on my skin again and was surprised. Vibrant warmth and a hint of security enveloped me. Call me crazy, but it had something physical about it. I was completely lulled and managed to snag a sample at Marionnaud. I wanted to test it on a living object, so my favorite classmate Luna had to step in. She wore it the next day, and I was overwhelmed. She smelled subtle yet somehow seductive. It also awakened a cozy, snuggly feeling in me. Luna thought it was fantastic, and it became her signature scent. Every time my colleagues and I caught a whiff of this fragrance, we associated it with Luna. Wonderful scent, but why?
Heliotrope (also known as vanilla flower), amber, musk, and vanilla are known for their flattering personality, which also brings a certain glow to the fragrance. All of them are soft in perception and soothing. I find these components very skin-affine or closely related to the skin's scent. They blend wonderfully with the skin's natural scent and enhance it. Therefore, "Jil" does not come across as intrusive; instead, it is perceived as a personal scent. Almost like a second skin.
"Jil" also smells romantic, and I imagine a young woman (aged 20-40) in a delicate dress with ruffles and long hair. Perhaps it is even curly.
Conclusion:
This fragrance is absolutely recommendable because it suits almost any occasion and gives every woman just a bit more femininity. Subtle seduction might also be a term that fits here.
I would be happy if more women would wear or at least test this fragrance to see how they experience it on their SKIN. If you're already testing on paper, then it's better to use a cosmetic tissue, as the scent disperses better on a delicate fabric and gets more air. The alcohol evaporates faster this way, and the fragrance molecules can unfold their effect more quickly and effectively!
So my ladies (and gentlemen, too): test it and give feedback! :)

From the beautifully balanced feminine Everwalker to the unfortunately discontinued Neverwalker. Great vanilla, not too overpowering.

The blend of lavender, mandarin, and pepper in the top note is a great composition that ends harmoniously and soothingly with a powdery finish.

I love this scent! I perceive it as powdery, slightly spicy, and vanilla. Worn for years, it always fit. Now I take care of the last ml.

Spicy-floral-vanilla powder scent.
Soft, sensual, and also unobtrusive - a classy office fragrance for winter. Finally, a Jil Sander that I like.
