Since I can call myself a friend of the short and crisp statements,
but I always like to read the contributions of my dearest Pappenheimer subscribed by me (of course also many others) and recently I was "admonished", I am once again due, I would like to give something back and also take you on a small trip.

This trip is not necessarily localized. It is, but primarily, it aims at the title-giving goal - my heart.

... so I dedicate these lines to you, because you always strike a little faster at the olfactory perception of this little masterpiece from Dior.

Paris, February 2019:

It was a good time. Have a good time. The world turned in time of my contentment, it was my birthday and the circle of my closest, dearest and confidants was perfect and complete. It shouldn't take long to be a week to be exact, and it drew me to the French capital. At that time the winter was mild and it had warm temperatures. There laughs the heart and the mind and one feels free and alive after the previous winter blues.

Excited, euphoric and happy of all collected impressions of this wonderful and uncomplicated city, in which time seems to run a little slower, when one looks through the many street cafes, the bistros and seductive little shops with sinful macarons, my way, how could it be any other way as a perfume lover, found my way to one or the other boutique on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

While I reminisce and try to get the pictures to speak, Non buzzes in my head, the more Édith Piaf's ne regrette rien that was there, the more funny way it was humming from one store or another.

When I entered the Dior boutique my sparkling and shining eyes had to calm down and I arrived and tested myself in peace through the PARFUMS MAISON CHRISTIAN Dior collection. Now he stood there. So much of him heard and read and I had great expectations. Hesitant and almost afraid, I stood in front of the bottle wondering what might happen as soon as I confirmed the atomizer and finest, small, liquid particles of this perfume adhered to my skin. I did it, closed my eyes and sniffed - at this point, please imagine how Dustin Hoffmann as Giuseppe Baldini, after smelling Jean Baptist's mixed perfume for the first time, raptures, gets goosebumps and a mama gasps out from Mia. The Mama Mia rotated in my head and I enjoyed and succumbed to the beauty and the silverwood grounding warmth of you.

It is a delicate, quiet and incredibly embracing companion that should have been called golden wood even better in terms of its scent characteristics. The individual fabrics of the pyramid are so finely interwoven that you can see them, but something completely new is created. One is greeted by a fine iris that is lightly incense-soaked, so that the association with warm hay in the most beautiful summer sun arises in me, without being sultry or oppressive. It gives freedom, vastness, distance and yet also the feeling of never being alone.

In the course of time, other artists join in, above all honey, which can almost be described as the main actor in the base, because over time it reduces the powderiness of the iris and creates creaminess. The woods and the leather are only accessories, perceptible, but not prominent. As do other individual notes in the heart. They create the big whole and no single note is inharmonic and fits into the composition of the chords in the right way.

So it was now, all fear and all hesitation blown away and I stood in my personal cloud from Bois d'Argent and was simply innermost fullest satisfaction and peace. I left the boutique and spent this wonderful February-Sunday afternoon with plenty of Macarons and tasty Baquettes and dedicated myself again to the tourist sightseeing.

Sometime in the evening I visited the basilica Sacré-Cœur. Armed with fresh cheese, air-dried salami and the finest wines, I stood up there on the terrace of Paris.
An unbelievable sight offered itself to me - the sea of lights of the city, the sparkling and far shining Eiffel Tower, love couple and equal three marriage proposals during my two-hour stay up there.

It was devoutly silent. The wind blew gently and I enjoyed food and drink as suddenly the most beautiful embrace I had ever received overtook and reached me - Bois d'Argent snuggled up to me again. The scent pulled into my nose and whispered to me gently that it would hold me and protect me, no matter when, no matter where, no matter how dark it would be and in that very moment, I had one of the deepest and most beautiful moments in the most beautiful company of a deep affair of the heart, felt the closeness, my body and simply listened to my breathing that walked calmly and evenly and noticed the tear that ran down my cheek. Deepest emotions, very deep happiness, love and complete contentment flowed through me and the silverwood became one with me. It shone brightly in the beautiful darkness and will always shine when it will be dark to me.

I was happy about the durability of this treasure which was about 8 hours at that time. Always quiet, never intrusive and with an intimate and private sillage, this precious jewel is a very performant treasure, which has to be searched for in me only after 10 hours +.

So I will finish this story and conclude by saying that Bois d'Argent is one of my most emotional, deepest and most important fragrances and I inevitably associate it with love, Paris, perfect happiness, warmth and security.

Forever and ever!

... this applies, for me personally, exactly to this special, albeit already outdated and, as I have just noticed, newly created scented water.

Everything has its beginning here. For me unforgotten and the magic is unbroken until today, because it revealed to me a whole world - more precisely the olfactory world regarding perfume.

I don't know the 2005 version, so I dedicate my comment to this original version, which I owned in 1998. It was my first perfume at the tender age of 14, which I was allowed to smell during a trip of the confirmation lessons at a co-confirmant. It fascinated me and the scent never let go of me and after I had softened all the nerves of my mother, she gave it to me, completely incomprehensibly like such a young boy (I repeat, 14 years), this scent only could wear?

So it had happened and I carried him with love and passion, every day, to school, in leisure time, even to sleep at night. Unfortunately I can't make any more 100% reliable statements about the course of the fragrance today, I only know that he had a good shelf life - felt and remembered, half a day (at warm temperatures) and the sillage was so trimmed, that today's fragrances (designers) are allowed to orient themselves on it now and then.

I owe this oldie that comment. It is my origin for the interest in perfumes and the beginning of a 21 year journey that will never end as long as I smell.

Exactly four fragrances, have immortalized themselves, today, trend-setting and formative with me:

1. Nino Cerruti - 1881 pour homme (in 1998)

2. Chopard - Heaven (around 2000)

3. Creed - Aventus (2016)

4. Tom Ford - Oud Wood (2018)

The 16 years between 2000 and 2016 were a wild journey with many great scents, but none of them had "guided" me.

I don't love everyone anymore, but I am indebted to them forever.

So, or something like that, I was testing Oud Wood from Ford. I can still remember exactly the moment when it was sprayed on my skin for the first time in Hamburg in the Alsterhaus on paper and quickly afterwards. I already thought I had reached my goal of having found the holy Grahl of perfume for me, so much enthusiasm set in for me.

When I look at the fragrance pyramid, it doesn't surprise me either, because almost all of the fragrances listed are way ahead of my time and one can already speak of polygonal love.

Unfortunately a first wave of disillusionment followed after a few hours - I heard the shelf life as well as the Sillage as something too weak for such an outstanding smell, in which the Oud, after all partly name-giving, was used so rudimentarily and finely that it is for me the most beautiful of the smells with the noble wood.

But appearances were deceptive or my nose played a trick on me. The durability, was not at all too weakly pronounced because it may dim down on my skin relatively fast, but then it remains on my skin for about 10 hours + on average.

For me, the Sillage is an absolute example of how to be sophisticated, elegant, gallant and gentleman, and how to play her ace again for special moments when body heat comes to bear. Chapeau!

The first experience didn't let me go and I got a sample of the scent and after frequent testing, quite normal, after the morning ritual, freshly sprayed on, my enthusiasm and my love for this scent grew immeasurable.

A vacation in New York was imminent and my companion should be the 4ml sample Oud Wood. I can't help but say that this fine water had a decisive influence on my holiday and stay and that both things, the city and the scent, became complementary goods for me. A perfect match and my love grew again. The memories of this impressive city are accentuated by which for me with the best fragrance on the market and remain unforgettable.

Finally bought and moved into a marriage-like community, our love is unshakeable to this day.

Should, should, should I only have one fragrance left - it would be Oud Wood, with this incredibly beautiful vibe in the base, a big heart and a pretty head.

I bow down.

That's what I call an opening: campfire romance in the forest while grated vanilla sticks over the fire in the air die away to small olfactory sparks and the waffle iron runs at full speed. Very big cinema and very close to the diligence to permanently refill logs.

As soon as the force of the smoke dims on my skin after about an hour and gradually fades into the background, the most cuddly and cuddly winter sweater for me appears. My previous reference to "cuddly scents", as I call them - Oud save the King by Atkinsons, has, in my opinion, outstripped the rank. Margiela sprayed on bears the danger of forgetting the coat.

A great fragrance with authenticity and good performance in terms of durability and sillage.

Earthy, calming, warming and caressing. For oneself and for all living beings in the immediate vicinity. Beautiful "thing" and definitely worth a test if you want to look at the characteristic "smoky" from a different perspective and are not averse to a certain sweetness.

My first comment and I would like to dedicate this to a fragrance whose theme, leather, has long accompanied and fascinated me in perfumes. Often slapping around the usual suspects (Tuscan Leather, Godolphin, etc.), to whom I unfortunately never had 100% access in the sense of a practical and general wearability, the 2018 Ombre Leather variant managed not only to ignite olfactory fireworks and enthusiasm for me, but also to condition my nose to it, so that I now appreciate the above-mentioned works very much and, if the opportunity presents itself to me, would also wear them

I discovered Ombre Leather by chance in autumn this year while weekly browsing in the various perfumeries in Hamburg. New Tom Fords, because I like the label, always arouse my curiosity immediately. If a Fucking Fabulous elicited an ok from my opinion and a Noir Anthracite curiosity through a completely different direction of the other 2017 releases, Ombre Leather managed to inspire me immediately. Love at first sniff, so to speak.

For me, the leather opening is the most beautiful thing I have ever smelled in leather scents. However, I have two points of criticism which I would like to mention directly in advance. In my opinion, the first point of criticism is the fact that he doesn't consistently pull this strength of the leather through to the end. Nevertheless, the leather successfully combines with the other fragrances. The second point of criticism is floweriness. A little less I would have found much more here. If the bouquet of flowers has calmed down and we approach the base, he plays out all his skills as a (leather) flatterer despite the meanwhile dimmed leather note, and that is quite wonderful.

I find the scent to be a warming, distinctive and reliable companion in autumn and winter, which has an incredible shelf life of 12 hours + (sometimes I smell it the next day) and even lasts for days on textiles and has a very strong sillage in the first 2-3 hours.

Leather jacket on, boots out and Ombre Leather sprayed on and you are good leather from the sole to the crown on the way.

My clear recommendation and for me one of the best new releases 2018, if you like leather. Then it's even, besides Colonia Leather, one of the most portable.
