My go-to on the dog days of Summer

MODERN VERSION 2005+

Excellent fresh Spring/Summer green scent. The zesty citrus opening leads to a woody, floral dry-down. Its performance is slightly better than most Summer fragrances, but still nowhere near I'd want it to be. Alongside Trussardi L’Uomo and Armani EPH, this is my go-to on dog days.

Masculinity Level: Magnum PI teaching a hot girl how to swim.

VINTAGE VERSION (1990-2004)

The vintage is less fresh, and is more suited for Spring and Autumn rather than Summer. The dry-down is richer, woodier, closer to Boucheron Pour Homme.

Masculinity Level: Still Magnum PI, but he’s not at the beach.

How about a "green smile"?

This "forever young" "Dolle Olle" brings a smile to my lips when I sniff it. Just 33 years old, a "youngster" if it were a person, and yet already a "vintage" as a fragrance! It is quite "green," not behind the ears, but in its entire aura. Charming with the crisp freshness of a fir forest and striking with its inclination towards the gentle, floral, without really being a pure "softie." The woody powders speak volumes! Not to mention its beautiful fruit and herb notes, not just at the beginning of the fragrance journey.
It reminds me of early summer days, where warm sunshine alternates with occasional rain showers. Pungent fragrances and delicate floral scents, which awaken my greatest olfactory interest with their "earthy-woody afterscents" in the "green coat."
"As if it's a piece of me"... I would claim. Like with a few other "green" perfumes, a "must-have" in my collection! That says a lot about this "Cerruti"! At least for MY nose. ;-))

Every beginning has a magic to it...

... this applies, for me personally, exactly to this special, albeit somewhat aged and, as I just found out, reissued little fragrance.

Here is where it all began. For me unforgettable and the magic remains unbroken to this day, as it revealed a whole world to me - more precisely, the olfactory world of perfume.

I do not know the 2005 version, so I dedicate my comment to this original version, which I owned in 1998. It was my first perfume at the tender age of 14, which I got to smell during an outing of the confirmation class from a fellow confirmand. It fascinated me, and the scent never let me go, and after I had softened up all of my mother's nerves, she gifted it to me, completely incomprehensibly, how could such a young boy (I repeat, 14 years old) wear this scent?

And so it happened, and I wore it with love and passion, every day, to school, in my free time, even to sleep at night. Unfortunately, I can no longer make 100% reliable statements regarding the scent development today; I only know that it had good longevity - felt and remembered, about half a day (in warm temperatures), and the sillage was so well-tuned that today's fragrances (designers) occasionally like to orient themselves to it.

I owe this oldie this comment. It is my origin for the interest in perfumes and the beginning of a now 21-year journey that will never end, as long as I can smell.

Exactly four fragrances have, as of today, left a significant and formative mark on me:

1. Nino Cerruti - 1881 pour homme (in 1998)

2. Chopard - Heaven (around 2000)

3. Creed - Aventus (2016)

4. Tom Ford - Oud Wood (2018)

The 16 years between 2000 and 2016 were a wild journey with many wonderful fragrances, but none of them "guided" me.

I do not love them all anymore, but I am eternally grateful to them.
