Italy in Cologne
I actually bought this fragrance because I wanted to have it in my collection under the motto "if it's missing, it's not a proper collection."
When the package arrived (and here’s a compliment to the brand: ordered and three days later the fragrance was there), I unpacked it and found the packaging amusing. It’s so simple and plain that it’s actually exciting. The bottle isn’t particularly thrilling, yet it has something that sets it apart from the other fragrances on the shelf or in the display case. The cap is really nothing special, and opening it feels like a workout for the hands. The sprayer, however, is really good.
I expected the scent to be old-fashioned. But no, quite the opposite; I was surprised by the lovely citrus freshness that surprisingly lasts well, showing that even the great-great-great-grandparents were more modern than one might think. Anyone who suspects it would smell like the fragrance from Glockengasse will be surprised. I find no similarity here. Especially, the neroli scent is missing, as found in the Kölnisch Wasser.
The flowers give the fragrance a warmth without becoming too feminine, making it suitable for both ladies and gentlemen without smelling old-fashioned.
My verdict is that this fragrance deserves to have established itself in the international market for over 300 years. After all, a few lesser-known people have worn this fragrance, such as:
Empress Maria Theresa, King Louis XV, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, Churchill, Adenauer, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Diana, and many more.
I find the price-performance ratio very good. A fragrance that can be worn anytime and anywhere, expressing a certain style.

Where does the grapefruit grove stand?
I first smelled and applied this fragrance in Munich at my trusted perfumery. It was around 11 o'clock. The scent captivated me immediately; the grapefruit burst forth with a strength I did not expect. But since I understand a bit about fragrances, I knew not to buy it right away and to wait and see how it develops and what else comes.
So I strolled over to Kaufingerstraße via Marienplatz. Then I stopped by the perfumery with the big D and was looking around when one of the salespeople approached me, asking what strong fresh scent I was wearing. At first, I was puzzled, and then it dawned on me that I had sprayed on Perseus. The salesperson looked at me with wide eyes and said they knew we could smell it all over the floor. I looked at him and denied it, explaining that I had just sprayed it on my arms with two spritzes about an hour ago for testing.
When I got home in the evening, about 9 hours later, the scent was still strongly present. The grapefruit was still well perceptible with a slight green/herbaceous note that really makes it very masculine.
My conclusion is that Perseus is a fantastic fresh, slightly green/herbaceous scent. It can be worn anytime and anywhere. The longevity on my skin is very good, and the sillage is more than convincing; one is noticed by the surroundings without being intrusive. We don't need to talk about the price with this brand; affordable is something else. However, considering that this is a fresh scent with such potency, the price is bearable.
P.S.: I would like to add a note regarding longevity and sillage. I wore Perseus last Monday and applied it both on my skin and on my polo shirt. The scent was perceived by my colleagues for a good 10 hours without being intrusive. On my skin, I and my girlfriend could still clearly smell the fragrance I applied at 6 in the morning before I went to shower in the evening. Since I wore a T-shirt under the polo that day, it was not sweaty, and I wore it again a week later, and Perseus was still clearly noticeable.
The longevity and sillage are simply excellent, which makes the price of this fragrance, which is quite high, more than acceptable.
