..and the fireplace crackles.
Replica - By the Fireplace does exactly what it is supposed to!
In the opening, the well-known wonderful smoke, then the gourmet notes come: vanilla with the lovely chestnut. As the fragrance develops, these notes persist and merge with the wood. The smoke recedes significantly over the course of the scent.
I find the entire Margiela Replica series very beautiful with the idea "A memory in a fragrance" and that is exactly what applies here. This fragrance transports me directly to the sofa with a crackling fire in the background. Or maybe to a campfire in late summer? In any case, the delicious vanilla cuddles up with the chestnut really well. Just the right thing for a day spent sitting around a campfire with friends while camping. But I can also imagine a frosty winter day, where you meet friends at a café or simply watch a classic film at home while the icy wind whistles through the land outside.
Bravo!

dark summer
No cloud in the sky, oppressive 30°C, no breeze - not exactly the best conditions to test such a complex and somewhat dark fragrance.
I was on the lookout for a new summer scent. I really wanted to be inspired anew and ventured into a truly wonderful niche perfumery in Berlin without any particular idea in mind.
Together with the friendly sales assistant, we browsed through the shelves, and he was able to show me many perfume houses I had truly never heard of before. A fantastic experience! Brands like Xerjoff or MfK seemed almost like designer labels (don’t get me wrong - I love both of these perfume houses!).
At first, he showed me a few very fresh scents, all beautifully crafted, but none of them really knocked my socks off. I briefly described to him that I prefer heavier, darker fragrances. He nodded briefly, pondered, and pulled this simple yet elegant bottle from the shelf. He warned me right away, saying that many people only wear this scent in the cold season - but he didn’t understand why, for him it would be a lovely option for summer. So we sprayed the fragrance, and I had to agree with him. What a surprise! Even on the test strip, I was absolutely thrilled and didn’t want to continue testing. For me, a clear sign: onto the skin, out of the perfumery, and go for a walk. Over time, the first impression solidified - what a hit!
At first, the fig comes through clearly for me. I particularly like this note. It reminds me of my year abroad in Portugal. Right outside our door stood two fig trees, and the opening immediately transports me back to that beautiful place. This green, fruity, yet refreshing note of fig makes it, in my opinion, a truly beautifully crafted summer fragrance. Because even though it has a green floral note, I perceive it for quite a long time until it is then taken over by the darker side of the fragrance. It then continues with a really well-made dark rose, followed by amber, ylang-ylang, and sweet vanilla. All scent components that I personally associate more with winter. The fragrance smells very authentic and natural. However, what still impresses me the most to this day is this incredible complexity. Especially in the first hours, Yakamoz keeps changing its face. Sometimes more fig, then more amber, and suddenly again this wonderful dark rose. I noticed this already during the first testing on the skin - absolutely multifaceted and something completely new for me in the world of perfume! (Unfortunately, I cannot draw a comparison to Nishane Nefs, as I have not yet tested that fragrance).
Actually, I am someone who tests fragrances extensively before making a hasty decision. Well. It took about 1 hour until I found myself back at the friendly gentleman in the perfumery, pulling out my wallet.
Now a bottle adorns my shelf again, and after about 2 months of extensive wearing, I must say: I do not regret it! I am already curious to see how it performs in cooler temperatures.
ArteOlFatto has created something great with Yakamoz. A perfume that is in a league of its own. Excellent quality (H/S super and asking only 140 euros for 100ml Extrait is unbeatable in this league), unisex, and furthermore absolute exclusivity, as this fragrance is still flying under the radar of the perfume community.
