Italien Classic Style with a Little Dubai-Edge to it

Acqua di Parma OUD for me has very little of what you would expect from an Oud fragrance. It is more a tribute to classical Italien night style (with very little lightness to it) but more the kind of casino, fine dining in an old palazzo. Don’t expect much Oud from it if you compare to the mild-eastern fragrances. Perfect for winter and autumn, can also be consciously used in warm temperatures.

Perfect introduction to oud

Acqua di Parma's Oud EdP opens with their great trademark citrus. This gives way to a nice oud scent - no stink or barnyard - and a final appearance of leather. Very elegant and classy, masculine fragrance. The great woody oud scent hangs around for most of its life. Perfect for the guy who wants an intro to oud. Unlike Gucci's Intense Oud (frequently touted as a good intro to oud; I disagree), there's an actual oud scent here to experience and enjoy. Longevity very good; got about 10 hours out of it. Projection is average. Still, not a blind buy.

All that said, AdP's Oud EdP is not for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a great scent, just too tame for me. I've long since moved beyond the intro-to-oud stage.

ADP Oud EDP

I walked into a high end fashion store, headed to their fragrance section and the sales guy there asked if i was looking for anything in particular. I said well i'm looking for a special oud fragrance that screams bold, sexy, loud and smells damn good.

Sales person presents me with Breydo Oud Immortel and i felt that i have used a fragrance similar to it before as i wanted something new to add to my collection. Then he spays this gorgeous fragrance on the testing strip and guess what? I immediately paid for it and left the store! BOOM!!!

Fast forward to 4 months later, not a week goes by without me wearing this Italian Stallion.. I love it! I f you are a guy and don't have this in your collection, do yourself a favour and get this NOW!

Acqua Di Parma i salute you on this gem!

What a wonderful surprise, I found my OUD

Hi perfume lovers,

I like very much Oud Ispahan, Gucci Oud, MFK Silk Oud (more rose than oud but anyway) .. so not very hardcore, punch in the face type of OUD.

Browsing for my next scent, I found this OUD edp in Douglas Düsseldorf today and tried it both on the little AdP band available but also on the skin. Wow what a citrusy start with mature, strong OUD drydown.

I bought a 180ml bottle of this magical perfume and I am looking forward to enjoy it for the next months.

Sprayed at 12 at noon, it is still strong on my skin at 18 and the notes are so easy to identify.
This is my 1st AdP but what a nice surprise, well done guys from LVMH with this masterpiece!

Inside a shoe shop

If you would like to smell like the inside of an old school shoe shop, this is your scent. It is literally fresh leather/suede - fresh in the sense that it hasn't yet lost the odour. The fragrance reminds me of Sauvage, not because it smells similar - it doesn't - but because it is raw, brutal, forceful, and primitive. The other leather-main perfumes I tried (Tom Ford Ombre Leather, Clive Christian C Woody Leather, and Mercedes-Benz Le Parfum) had an oily-sweet component, or something else, to offset the leather. This doesn't. The oud is kind of sweet, but very dry, making the scent sharp and pungent. With time, however, it eases up and starts smelling more like leather dipped in honey.

With all this savagery, the fragrance is still kind of interesting, but very niche. It's like Lalique Encre Noire of leather scents, just as weird, definitely an acquired taste. I don't even know how to rate it, could be both a like and dislike.
