very light and airy cannabis
I'm always down for putting my nose on cannabis scents, and this one really brings it.

I think it's a great one for layering, as it has a pretty loud personality, but not much to bring it down to earth, per se. I know it's called "Open Sky" but it's a little too open for me.

it can definitely be quite harsh at first, and as it dries down, again it lacks some depth,...
I think it could be really quite nice if the cannabis smell was a bit more earthy or deep as well. it smelled like a fruity sativa, maybe a chocolate-y indica would be great to balance it out.

understated feminine class
the more I wear this, the more I love it. without having known a thing about this fragrance, at first whiff I knew there was something unique and intriguing about this one. straight from the bottle, or on a piece of paper, it definitely can be a bit challenging with the fecal notes that seem to linger the whole time ... but I find on my skin, especially at my pulse points, it's incredibly pretty and beautiful in a somewhat understated, mature way. definitely has a vintage vibe to it that makes me feel like I should dress up for tea and crumpets.

I think, if I were to go to something fancy, I'd wear this alone. but I think it can also provide a good base and add complexity to simpler, more youthful scents as a more everyday sort of thing too.

I was reading around on this fragrance and there have been some comparisons with Frederic Malle's the night. As I have both, I truly don't think they're at _all_ alike! Oudh Infini has way more musk, civet, white flowers and vanilla going on, and The Night has more smoke and alcohol.

The atomizer for this bottle is _dreamy_ by the way. Very fine, generous mist that is satisfying with every push.

cozy and boozy
it was one of my first scents I've bought! unfortunately the glass decant I got it from shattered and it spilled everywhere, so I don't have it anymore.

pretty hard to go wrong with this spicy-sweet one. some slight woodiness keeps it from being overly simplistic. I don't smell the chestnut listed in the notes, personally; definitely much more vanilla and a bit of a rum-ish flavor.

it's A Night
I was lucky to snag a fairly affordable decant. and, I gotta say...

it's a typical, but well done, rose/oud combo. it has some of the barnyard-y stink of oud, but just enough to push you a little bit and pique your interest. the opening also has a bit more of an alcohol note to it that reminds me of other FM fragrances.

I really don't think it needs to be the price they're asking for; you can really get this type of smell from other perfumers at a fraction. this smells quite similar to Oud al Fayed by Christian Provenzano.

I also see some discussion about how people prefer The Night over other oud fragrances from say, Bortnikoff, because the perfumers from FM are IFF trained and the others are not as much. to be honest,--and maybe I'm just being a peasant here--, I don't think that distinguishment is that important. I think different regions and cultures of perfumery can be equally good/enjoyable, and someone saying that is basically just saying they prefer the conventions of french perfumery over others.

humble and loving embrace of nostalgia
(panting) okay, finally finishing all my reviews of the first Shalini collection with this last one.

from what I've been gathering, it seems that this fragrance either is just good/okay, or it is extremely evocative and shines brightly for those who have a specific connection with the ingredients. I am in the latter of those categories.

this reminds me of the thyme (HAhah) I started to learn to cook when I was around 14 years old. it was a very emotional time for me because I felt as if my world were falling apart during those years, but learning to cook and follow recipes online gave me a lot of optimism and hope in my self-empowerment. I would make foods from all kinds of cultures and bake desserts using all kinds of spices and herbs. sniffing this feels like the first time discovering all these different ways of connecting with the outside world and growing up, in a sense.

this perfume is very interesting in that it doesn't really smell like a perfume; it smells more like a very smooth blend of essential oils. the opening is intoxicatingly juicy (orange blossom?) and smooths out with a heartwarming sweetness that beckons the past. the olive wood adds a bit of depth that holds it all together like an aged photograph. sunshine radiates from the skin. it's very therapeutic, in more ways than one, to wear this scent. more than once I have heard this fragrance to smell wonderful by people who professed to dislike lavender.

this could be a signature or everyday scent for me. it's super unique yet wearable and unassuming, but it can be powerful for those who "get it."
