Is this the way the earth smells in France?
...if so, I need to get there ASAP!

Terre d Hermès is one of the very big in the fragrance world, and that surprises me!
The DNA is, I think, actually not one that is so easy to wear. But from the beginning.

The first time I smelled it in a drugstore and was first time a little confused. Earth? Yes. Orange? Yes. Do I need it? No.
When I left the drugstore again, I did not know what to think of it all.
A little later, the fragrance then pulled for the first time as a cloud in my nose, and I sniffed not directly on my wrist.
And then it was then done around me.
In the air I perceive it completely different than directly on the skin. The only slightly sweet orange blends fantastically with the vetiver and the flint - it really smells like a noble, slightly fruity-fresh earth...and I love it!

So I could not help (times again), but to buy me a flacon which, by the way, is an absolute feast for the eyes.

Since then, I appreciate Terre d Hermès very much. As I mentioned at the beginning, surprised me the success of this fragrance but very, I find him by no means 0815, rather extraordinary and very special. But taste is just subjective, and sometimes not to understand.

Funny thing about the whole thing is that I'm actually absolutely NOT a vetiver fan. Encre Noire, for example, was a horror for me. And yet I love Terre d Hermès. Crazy.

The longevity and sillage is great for an EdT, but never room-filling or overbearing. One comes with the morning application thus well through the day.

What a great earth.

Marketing feat
First of all, I apologize for another comment about this fragrance, but you can not get around this fragrance. Dior has created here a cash cow, as there were only a few in history. And that is due to three factors. An offensive advertising campaign including the world star Johnny Depp, who drives through the dusky desert in his vintage car - a brilliant coup that remains in the minds of the masses.
The starting signal for a successful perfume.

Secondly, Dior is simply a traditional brand that has an enormous radiance and that everyone associates with luxury and glamour. You certainly can't go wrong with that, right?

Lastly, Dior anticipated changing tastes early on and captured them perfectly in a bottle with Sauvage, which is unsurpassed to date. The great times of heavy-spicy men's perfumes ala Azzaro pour Homme, Zino, etc. are (unfortunately) over and disappeared from the mainstream. Today it has to smell fresh and clean, rough edges are undesirable. The massive success of the "blue fragrances" prove that.

To the fragrance itself:
He starts with fresh with lots of bergamot and some pepper. Quickly joins a decent amount of ambroxan, which remains present all the time and is responsible for the enormous durability.
A biiisssschen star anise I mean in the further course of the fragrance still to discover.
Honestly? More I do not smell out. No lavender, no vanilla, nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the fragrance is bad, in fact I quite like it. In the long run, however, it is too boring for me, too monotonous.... i can not really bond with him, for that he is too cool and too emotionless.

Dior can be of course no matter, they probably do not know what to do with the money. With mainstream can be made just the most profit.

A sheep in wolf's clothing
The blue beast, strongest perfume ever, unwearable,...
If you search for this fragrance, it does not take long until you also come across the above-mentioned designations. Me but that has not deterred, on the contrary, I wanted to finally test this controversial fragrance itself. So I spontaneously ordered a small filling. The package it was packed in smelled like Interlude from 50cm away. Quite potent, to say the least. Unpacked, sprayed on and yaaaa.... a resinous smoky wall that pulls straight into the brain. So were all those "scare stories" true?
No!
Once you can appreciate the undeniable force of this fragrance, you can look forward to a contemplative Oriental desert journey. The austere top note evolves into a sweet and resinous dream after about 30min. Yes, he continues to be clearly niche, clearly not a typical Crowdpleaser and certainly NO BLINDBUY!
The incense and opoponax notes are omnipresent and have an incredibly contemplative, spiritual and relaxing effect on me. When the sandalwood joins in, I experience one of the best drydowns I know.

If you go only by the durability and sillage, you can perhaps talk about a "beast", because a bottle of this probably outlives its owner itself. He shines all day and all night. The fragrance considered he is certainly not a beast, on the contrary, he is meditative, mysterious, I associate him even with religious.

For me, "Interlude man" is art, and for the known you have to first develop a feeling.

Male self-image
The Amouage brand is one that I really appreciate for its uniqueness and diversity. From mainstream to extreme niche, everything can be found in the portfolio.
Reflection Man is certainly to be assigned to the former.
At the flacon I'll be brief, I find generally at Amouage beautifully simple and noble.

Now to the fragrance. At the beginning, the bitter orange leaf is the most superficial note.
Not too sweet and rather dry I perceive them.
Quickly joins then neroli and especially jasmine, which gives the fragrance its characteristic floral note.
Thereupon still a soft, but yet intense sandalwood mixes in.
Together, a sweetish-floral-powdery fragrance is created, which in my eyes could also be classified as unisex.
It's really pleasing and universal, classy enough for work and playful enough for the weekend.
I reject the often heard comparison to Le Male by JPG, I find both fragrances fundamentally different.

The durability is in the upper midfield, which is optimal, however, as it never becomes intrusive. The sillage is long present, but again so subtle that it is never too much.

In summary, you could say that you get a universally applicable fragrance with Reflection Man, which copes with all situations of everyday life. He is not exactly cheap, but he is definitely worth the money and will give you long pleasure.

Clear purchase recommendation.

The success proves him right...
Even if actually everything about this fragrance was already written and philosophized what there is to write and philosophize, I still want to give my two cents

I have no personal relationship/memory with this fragrance and am completely neutral in my approach. In fact, I recently smelled this fragrance for the first time (consciously).

First, the most obvious: the bottle. The blue, masculine torso is now cult and has a lot of appeal because of it. He simply has legend status, there is nothing more to say.

The fragrance itself has surprised me. Here he was yes often "called that sweetest ever". Of course, he has a continuous sweetness, but this I do not feel as unpleasant or exaggerated.
Immediately after application, a gentle, calm lavender spreads quite clearly. It is massively different from other lavender notes that I have smelled so far.
In Tom Ford's Beau de Jour, it's more pungent, warmer, greener.
Possibly more synthetic ingredients were used in Le Male, but that doesn't have to be worse in my eyes - as long as it's done well.
Other strong players in the top note are the mint and cardamom.
The transition to the heart and base notes runs smoothly, here then the tonka bean, vanilla and sandalwood push forward and mix with the aromas of the top note. Thus, despite the heavy notes, a certain freshness remains.

The durability is in the upper range. With a few sprays one comes well over the day, on textiles he is perceptible several days.
The sillage is also very satisfactory, only after 4-5 hours, he is slowly close to the skin with me.

You might not be an outlier when wearing this fragrance, but the DNA is just heavenly and performs beautifully. It is versatile, not very expensive and goes down well with the community.

Le Male was, is and remains a safe bank.
