Deceleration...
We live in a very complex, challenging and stressful time. We are constantly under pressure to perform, and smartphones mean that we have to be available all the time. Sometimes (at least that's how I feel) it all goes over your head. Every now and then, I need a certain amount of time in which I simply do nothing and let my thoughts run free. Scents often help me to relax and loosen up. Tobacco Vanilla is predestined for this. I usually put it on at home, just for me. I don't need compliments, I don't need attention. The clove, a damp tobacco and a precious, sweet vanilla nestle softly and warmly, giving me security, safety and balance. Each note harmonizes so beautifully, yet you can detect each one. When I wear this Tom Ford outside, it's usually in the fall or winter. The occasion is secondary here, I may smell good when and where I want :p

I can recommend Tobacco Vanille to anyone who appreciates spicy-winter scents. The price is juicy, but a bottle will give you several years of pleasure, it is really very potent. There is no big scent progression, you get what you order, tobacco and vanilla. But honestly, more it needs here also not at all.
Thank you for reading.

It's been a long time...
This fragrance is undoubtedly one of the most famous and popular fragrances around. Yet, for whatever reason, I've given it a wide berth for years. It was probably because before I got this one under my nose, I smelled the perfume, which didn't really appeal to me. Too cluttered, too sweet, too powdery - too much. So my conclusion was that the Intense won't appeal to me either, after all they are both based on the identical basic DNA. So that's how the "Dior Homme free" years passed, until I kindly bought a perfume here in the souk that came with a sample. It was, no bad thing, a bit leaked in the package. When I opened it, I thought to myself, my god, what smells so good? Quite taken aback, I realized it was that sample. Almost sarcastically, I laughed at my stubbornness of never really giving Intense a chance after its overloaded big brother scared me off. The iris here is much softer and more refined, the sweetness dialed back a bit (don't get me wrong, it's still pretty sweet!) and bedded on woody notes. I immediately found it to be much more rounded and balanced than the perfume. Then, when I tested the sample extensively a few days later, I finally lost myself in it. It is bursting with elegance, grandeur and class. And so it came that after all these years now finally a flacon is on the way to me.

It took a long time...

Breaking a Lance
Another "blue", does it have to be? That's probably what many people here think, or at least similar, which can be seen not least in the very different ratings. Some claim that the good Yves would turn in the grave, others praise him to the sky. Actually, very unusual, since this fragrance direction is often described as very uncomplicated and suitable for the masses.

I admit to have recently come to the taste of such fragrances. Although I appreciate my oriental and Fougeredüfte still very much, but for everyday life, these "blue" are now indisputably very practical.

With Y of Yves Saint Laurent we have such a candidate. I have read through many of the comments here, and from nausea to masterpiece everything was there. I'll keep it short and settle in the middle. I really like this scent, despite the synthetics - that's just the direction general taste is going.

Y opens with a sour green apple, which is defused by the ginger. Nevertheless, a very scratchy start, which must not be bad at all. Just this ginger remains namely throughout the course, which I like very much. Later, sage is noticeably added, before everything is bedded on a base of incense, amber wood and tonka. Out comes a fresh fragrance with a certain depth and maturity, which certainly compared to some other exotic does not stand out, but just that does not want at all.

Despite everything, he just gives me a good dose of joy and confidence - perfect for the start of a long working day.

A big plus is that it holds up really well. For an 8-hour day more than enough. To me, the performance is actually also not a priority, but it's still nice when he stays there for a long time.

Ultimately, I am very convinced and taken by Y EDP, but can also understand the critics who might have wanted something more unique. But just these different perceptions make our hobby yes so interesting and lively :)

Frankincense. Nothing else.
Since I am a great lover of incense - you could almost say this is my favorite note represents, jumped me the "Full Incense" quite quickly in the eye. For a long time I also informed myself about alternatives such as "Cardinal" by Heeley, but finally I decided for Montale. This brand is quite "controversial", on the one hand because of the flacons (I find these actually not at all wrong), but also because of the enormous power of most fragrances. All this played for me but first no role.

I would be lucky and found immediately a flakon in the souk with a fantastic salesman.

When the package arrived, I first examined the presentation. All right, the OVP is now not the yellow of the egg, but such a thing is pretty much the same to me. The bottle itself is, as usual with Montale, packed in a small cloth bag. Very nice. The flacon is as already said, also well done. So quickly that old perfume was washed off and the Full Incense was put on. This moment before the first time I love to smell always the most ;).

And what I expected came true. As a little boy I was always fascinated by incense in church (Catholic in my case). I loved the smell of it. And that's exactly how the Montale smells. Really 1 to 1. Even though it was my first time spraying it on, it seems familiar right away. So many familiar images and thoughts.
Incense is just tremendously relaxing, mystical and sublime on me. A celebration.

Company customary he has also neat steam behind the boiler. Do not worry, the holds and holds. However, he is never oppressive.

In conclusion, I can only say that I have found a new (co-)favorite fragrance for the colder days and Montale as a whole has moved into my focus. Maybe one or the other of it still comes into my collection.
All (church) incense lovers I can only warmly recommend this fragrance. Tests him necessarily.

Amen.

Can you be more oriental?
First, a thank you to "Shaunpher" for the nice souk.

The first time I smelled Santal Royal about 3-4 months ago, and was so excited that now finally a whole bottle of it was allowed to move in with me.

But from the beginning.

The bottle is a feast for the eyes and one of the most beautiful I was ever allowed to hold in my hands. Opaque, solid black glass with gold facets and a beautiful loop around the spray head.
Genius.
And if that wasn't enough, it also pairs beautifully with the included eau de parfum.
Admittedly, jasmine and nerolino notes I can not perceive, but immediately the two main players make themselves clearly noticeable: Rose and Oud. The oud is, unlike in many other fragrances, but not "dirty" and penetrating, but very softly embedded - like everything in this fragrance. Also the rose, which turns out to be rather a dark one, is buttery soft and harmonizes wonderfully.
In the later course then joins a tart peach and only slightly sweetened cinnamon.
Last but not least, then also has the eponymous sandalwood his appearance, and completes this noble composition, which is in the eyes of many one of the highest quality at all.

Out comes a dreamlike, mysterious Oriental, which has its appearance on colder days or in evening and night occasions - if you dose it carefully, certainly also times at work wearable. Thus have the question of H&S probably also answered.

Thierry water and Guerlain have created a dreamlike unisex fragrance here, which has a very special aura and attraction to me. This masterpiece of perfume art gets from me a smooth 10, few can keep up with him - he is simply magical.
