An art like never before!
Two years ago in December, I could no longer resist! By the way, it doesn't come from nowhere. My mother bought "Opium" for the first time in 1979 and has had it in her collection ever since. Until now and today. I basically grew up around the scent. I still enjoy smelling it. Even though it is a bit weaker than before. (In my opinion)
I had a day off during the week. Always very pleasant. Because then you don’t have all the people around you like on the weekend. You have time! Plenty of time.
So I decided to visit a fragrance store. Without testing any other scent, I went straight to YSL "Opium Eau de Toilette" pour Homme. Tester in hand, cap off and "spray"! What a gentle impact hit my wrist! Suddenly it was warm and truly winter in my nose! (I had applied only a fragrance-free body lotion that day after shaving.)
I couldn't help but spray some on my neck as well. Let it work and enjoy! What a scent! Simply wonderful and almost never smelled! Just fantastic!
(Don't mind me for holding back on the technical terms as I simply can't find the words!)
I immediately bought a 100 ml bottle of the precious stuff.
At first, I only wore it in colder temperatures. But then curiosity got the better of me to wear it at 32° Celsius as well. It works then too. But - applied subtly! Because then ingredients come to the fore that don’t stand out as much in colder temperatures. Great!
Then last year around autumn.
The curiosity for the Eau de Parfum became unbearable! However, I was cautious and first looked on sales portals. Is there anyone who doesn’t like the scent and wants to get rid of it at a bargain price?? Because now comes the catch. It is almost nowhere available anymore! At least not here in Switzerland.
After what felt like two weeks of browsing the internet, I finally found a seller who was selling 50 ml (there's no larger size) of the scent for just under €25. New and sealed. "Because he received it as a gift but doesn’t like it..." a bargain.
After checking the batch code, I bought it. With a kiss on the hand for that price. ;)
A few days later, the package arrived, and I immediately opened it.
Lo and behold: Opium pour Homme Eau de Parfum.
Plastic off, box open, flaps on the left and right gone.....and just a tiny bit of scent greeted me. But really just a tiny bit. Bottle out....violet cap off and then the event of the day: spray!
Once directly on the neck. What a bomb. What a blast of blackcurrant and vanilla. A direct statement! Not for the faint-hearted! No, not with me! I am made for real men. That it didn’t knock me off my saddle was a miracle!
And the longevity is grand! It stays well on the skin all day. On clothing, it lasts forever.
Now that I knew that the scent is almost nowhere to be found here, I kept searching and still found an OVP version that is nicely stored in a little cabinet. Because the first purchased scent is still at 3/4 full. You really only need 1-2 sprays at most! Otherwise, it could tip into the negative.
What I want to add is: if you use public transport, apply it early enough. Because I can imagine that a certain envy factor might arise. ;)
In any case, it is certainly not the obvious candidate. Test it and get to know it.
He has become a very good buddy! And not everyone has that honor with me!
Keep your ears stiff!
Ride on!

Rare Art
Hanae Mori!?! Never heard of it. Or just glanced at it? I must be honest: through Parfumo.de, I discovered another gem. Unfortunately, there aren't many contributions and statements available yet. And yet: it was enough for me to order the Eau de Toilette blindly. Said and done!
The scent was placed in the mailbox by the postman last Friday. Full of eagerness to finally sniff the fragrance, I got to unpacking the little bottle.
The bottle looks great. The cap resembles a screw nut. Fits! Because I’m still a bit of a hobby mechanic on American motorcycles and Amish sleds.
But now to the scent (please forgive me if I don't use technical terms): Sprayed directly on my still warm skin after showering, I experienced a very wonderful citrus freshness that filled my nose. Not aggressive at all! No, a very lovely note! This actually lingered for quite a long time in a fine-intensive scent strength. A light sweetness was added, but it didn’t overpower. The slightly floral notes also don’t make the scent “unmanly.”
Throughout the day, all these ingredients alternate beautifully. Really very special! The longevity is actually quite good. At this time of year, it lasts about 7-8 hours on me. I can still smell it subtly on my shirt the next day. However, one must assume that in summer, with heat, it may not last as long. At least on the skin.
Conclusion:
One of the best blind purchases I’ve dared to make in a long time.
Despite the weak floral notes and little sweet citrus, it remains masculine. Because anyone looking for freshness will be well served with HM Eau de Toilette! And: for a fresh scent like this, the longevity is quite tolerable.
Anyone who doesn’t want a 0815 scent is well served here!
Ride on!

It's not simple!
After a long time of pondering and testing, I finally purchased a bottle of Gentleman Cologne.
It has the characteristic of starting off explosively and then fading away incredibly quickly. It was no different during the testing phase. But I had to have it! It has something that other fragrances don't have. Don't ask me what it is. But there is something there!
As I said, it doesn't last through a normal workday. It's still noticeable on clothing in the evening, but for me, after 3 to 4 hours, it's all gone.
Very unfortunate! I must mention: I needed 6-8 or 10 sprays. Yes indeed!
Then came the day when I dared to consider giving it away.
No! I thought again. Because that’s what makes it special.
Now, dear folks, a solution came!
I apply the fragrance in the evening after my shower or before I go to bed. Wonderful! No more 6 to 10 sprays! Just two.
Then I can enjoy it in peace - the special one with that certain something!

The Rebel
Well: I became aware of the fragrance here on parfumo.de. I joyfully browsed through the statements and all the comments. I read so many positive words that I decided yesterday to visit a perfume shop nearby and test this classic.
So I drove there with the sole aim of finally sniffing the scent. The cheerful lady at the counter greeted me warmly, asking how she could assist me. Since I was enjoying a day off, I had just come in fresh from the shower. I had applied a hint of “Opium pour Homme.” Well, this lively lady guessed the scent.... A trained nose! A lady from the trade! Wow! I was in good hands! She asked me what I was looking for. I described the fragrance direction I had in mind. Then we went together to the men's fragrances. The “current hits” had already flown past us. Now the lady was at Guerlain. Habit Rouge. Again 100 points because I own the EdT. Then we moved on to Dior. The nice lady pulled out the “Eau Sauvage EdT.” Left wrist! Fresh and citrusy. Well-being. However, unfortunately, it faded after a short time. What a pity....
Then she reached for the “Eau Sauvage Parfum.” Right wrist. WOW!!! What a bomb. What an explosion that took place! What a special scent. And the longevity! The longer it is applied, the better it gets. For a moment, I was absent and cruised with my 1960 Chevy Impala on Route 66. Windows down, elbow out, and a dose of Southern Rock! Asskickin' Southern Rock.
The nice consultant must have seen this in me. Because she didn’t ask me to test another fragrance. THIS must be it. Now and not tomorrow. I thought to myself.
So I told the lady that I would like to take the scent. She is the best consultant I have ever had!
I walked past the mainstream to the checkout, still indulging in the dream from before.
The saleswoman - oh yes - by the way, her name is Leonie, packed the fragrance in a lovely little bag and handed it to me with a pretty smile.
Now I left the fragrance house again. With a broad smile on my face and a rebel in my pocket.
Cheers!

This is Rock'n'Roll!
For about three months now, I have been the owner of a bottle of Habit Rouge. I became aware of it due to the good reviews and the fragrance notes that suit me. To this day, I do not regret a single moment of having purchased it.
Now, I am not the type who always has to keep up with the times. I listen to rockabilly, but I’m not a teddy, I don’t slick my hair back, and I live the wild style of R'n'R.
When I sit in my 1960 Chevy Impala on a free day and cruise around with it, that’s when the effect of Habit Rouge is at its best for me. Everything just fits together perfectly.
I prefer to wear it on weekends. That’s when I have time to really enjoy it.
I need a few more sprays. At least in the evening at the disco or at a festival. The lovely ladies, whether young or old, always ask me what I’ve sprayed on. It fits perfectly into my world. Into the wild time of rock'n'roll!
I would never give up this fragrance.
Because 0815 has never been my style.
