Incredibly ambivalent!
As the title suggests, I'm incredibly ambivalent about this fragrance.
It was one of my first Xerjoff fragrances and in the store I was blown away by the fantastic composition. Even out of the store, it retained that wonderful caramel scent that I love so much about it. But now to my problem:
It's not consistent! I tested it from four different bottles and half of them were great, the other half were very disappointing!
First on the day in question, then I was given a tester to take home. This tester didn't perform so well and after about half a month it broke down (stored in the dark etc.). Then, when I was in Frankfurt, I thought I could have the "Aqua Regia | XerJoff" sprayed on from the "Frankfurtstore". No sooner said than done. I was immediately on fire for the fragrance again, loved it, its sillage and this beautiful caramel leather note, which is why I fell in love with it the first time I smelled it. Later that day, the nice employee sprayed "Alexandria II Anniversary | XerJoff" on me, which literally clouded my vision and I had to buy HIM for the time being...
Nevertheless, some time later I bought a bottle of "Aqua Regia | XerJoff" here in the souk and was disappointed a second time. It smelled exactly like the supposedly tipped tester I got from the perfumery...
It could of course be that the perfume is really tipped, but my only explanation for this phenomenon is that there are strong and weak batches, similar to "Side Effect | Initio" "Layton | Parfums de Marly" and other fragrances... Maybe my nose has changed again and again over time...?

Overall a great fragrance but due to the ambivalent performance I can't give it more than 6 out of 10 stars. I simply had to go through too much for that!

Perfection with headache potential
I received a sample of this perfume at a souk. As is so often the case, I paid little attention to the bottling until I thought of the fragrance again when I tried "Elysium Parfum Cologne (Eau de Parfum) | Roja Parfums".

Very seductive, salty caramel with a wonderfully balanced lavender note. It's definitely a fragrance that would make you turn around on the street and smell it a second time.
I have also had to smell the fragrance several times because of its peculiarity and find its unusual nature very special.
Unfortunately, the fragrance gives me a slight headache over time (for me), which is why I find the fragrance itself very original, but I wouldn't be able to wear it on me or smell it on a person for a long time.
If I had a meeting and someone was wearing this fragrance, I would either have a headache at the end of the meeting or feel very nauseous (but tastes differ!)
The longevity and sillage are exceptionally good.
You should definitely try the fragrance. You don't smell something like this very often!

Freshie at an unbeatable price
The "CK One Reflections | Calvin Klein" is one of the latest in the CK One range. When I saw it in the store, I just had to try it and now it will soon be moving in with me.
What has always struck me about the CK ONE fragrances is the beautiful smell, which you really like to smell again and again, but at the same time the borderline durability.
This fragrance creates a wonderfully fresh impression, which I think has only a very light tea note in addition to the many fruity components. The somewhat artificial lemon clearly stands out, but it harmonizes wonderfully with the other ingredients.
For me, the shelf life is bearable, as you can easily take it with you for the low price. The fragrance is simply something different, it's a real pleasure to spray on and ultimately it's not at all intrusive or headache-inducing.
It should be available to test in many perfumeries. In my opinion, an ideal gift tip for the summer for all occasions and age groups.

Who was there first? The bird or the 40 Knots?
To answer the question in the title right away. The "Ambre Nuit | Dior" is older (released in 2009) than the "40 Knots | XerJoff" (released in 2012).
As soon as I sprayed it on, I noticed a strong similarity, which is incredibly interesting in my opinion. Even my girlfriend immediately noticed that she had already smelled this fragrance (I own the "40 Knots | XerJoff" from "Ambre Nuit | Dior" but it was the first impression of a bottling).

Dior and Xerjoff - nothing is actually stolen from the other...

And so it is: just a few seconds after spraying it on, I noticed clear differences between the two competitors. In my perception, the "40 Knots | XerJoff" is even more citrusy and even bolder than the "Ambre Nuit | Dior".
Mind you, an (uninformed) outsider might assume they are the same fragrance if they briefly smell one of the two scents.

In my opinion, however, "Ambre Nuit | Dior" is better suited to the spring and fall seasons, while I wear "40 Knots | XerJoff" almost exclusively in summer (by the sea/beach). Of course, tastes are very different and there are always new ways and possibilities to find an occasion for special perfumes, but I firmly believe that the "40 Knots | XerJoff" has something in it that makes you uncomfortable in the cooler seasons without warm sunshine.

While the "Ambre Nuit | Dior" is probably more of an all-rounder in comparison, I firmly believe that the "40 Knots | XerJoff" is the better choice in summer at a beach bar simply because of its longevity. With it, it is really ahead of its competitor (in my opinion) in terms of the appearance of the fragrance (increased sillage & longevity as well as dominance).

To come to the end: The "40 Knots | XerJoff" is a classy summer fragrance with a cheeky, slightly intrusive note while the "Ambre Nuit | Dior" shows a slightly less dominant side of itself. The DNA may be almost identical, but for me there is a clear all-rounder between the two and a phenomenal summer fragrance.

A small fire in the desert
I can hardly empathize with the bad reviews so far. I am surprised by the smoky freshness that emerges after spraying.
According to the manufacturer, "Majestic oud, subtle raspberry and a sweet note of clay combine with noble incense."
The fragrance transports me to the desert. I smell the dry air, which has a slight oriental tinge, and in the distance a delicious meal is being prepared over a smouldering fire. Phenomenal mental cinema!

I can well imagine that this fragrance can become very tiring in the long run, but compared to the many fragrances I have been able to test so far, it was definitely a surprise and took me to a faraway fantasy world ;)
