We had a score to settle...
The perfume and I actually took a whole 28 years to find each other.
I came across Poeme in a magazine in 1996. I still remember the full-page advertising picture with a small sample stuck in the middle. It was a peel-off foil and underneath it was a small amount of the precious fragrance on another foil. I moistened my arm with it and it was all over me.
I sank into a cloud of soft, golden cream. Enveloping and dreamlike. My heart was touched by this fragrance and my soul was in harmony with it.
So I decided to visit the local perfumery in the next few days to buy this wonderful fragrance.
At the perfumery, I also met a saleswoman who immediately took me into her care. I told her about my intention to buy. I was only 18 years old at the time and very shy. This often proved to be my undoing, as it did this time. The resolute lady explained to me that I was far too young for this fragrance and that it wouldn't suit me at all. It was for mature ladies. Instead, she told me that Amarige Eau de Toilette was basically the same, but for younger people.
And what did I do? I didn't resist, didn't disagree and bought a small bottle of Amarige. Yes, it was nice. Also golden, but not as creamy. Just not as wonderfully creamy and just not what I wanted at that moment.
I was really sad that I had failed like that and changed my mind. I remember sitting at home with Amarige and trying to like it anyway. I kind of used it up by using a lot of it so that it would run out quickly. And I felt bad every time because it reminded me of my lack of standing and made me painfully aware of how stupid that had gone.

At some point I forgot about it and from then on I didn't have either fragrance anymore. Now, with Parfumo, I dug into my old passions and tried to remember previous fragrances. That's when I remembered this one.

And !!!! I bought Poeme. At 46, without a sales clerk, but here in the souk. And I'm happy about it. Both about the really wonderful fragrance, which is so beautifully creamy, golden, soft and radiant on me and lasts forever, and about the fact that this purchase has now had a happy ending after 28 years. And I bought Amarige again and like it now too. :-)

Incidentally, I never shopped at the perfumery again.

Flashback with a gem that saves lives in summer
Last spring, I was browsing through the drugstore again, lost in thought, and suddenly a flashback hit me like a bolt from the blue. It was triggered by this little bottle on the shelf. First thought: Unbelievable, this still exists ?
Rub my eyes, blink, look again... Really, there it is. This little ice-blue bottle that I knew from the 80s. Back then it was still "East", before reunification. My grandma had this ice pen and called it "Kölnisch Eis". I was allowed to use it once, but very sparingly. And I still remember exactly how it felt back then. Now this olfactory and tactile sensation jumped out at me with full force in the Müller drugstore and catapulted me 40 years into the past.
These ice cream sticks were very valuable back then, as they were only available "from the West". But that's what Aunt Christa did every time she visited my grandma, which was every few years. She used this "cologne" herself and was therefore happy to give it away as a gift.
When a pen was empty, I was given it to play with. You could (and still can) open it. I filled it with water and let it go through another round of use. The cushion still had enough scent that it gave off its icy beauty and soothing effect to the water.
At the time, however, it was made of a smooth woven fabric. That was - I have to say - better, because it didn't fluff but remained really beautiful over a very long period of use. The current cushion is made of a kind of fleece and starts to pilling after the first use, which makes it look kind of shabby. But it doesn't matter, that doesn't detract from my time travel.
Anyway, I now use the stick really regularly in summer and it is simply brilliantly cooling. Just dab a little in the crook of your arm, the back of your knee and the back of your neck and you'll feel refreshed for the next hour. It really works wonders!

Edith also wanted to say that the historical original is this one Ice Cologne
One of the versions is actually also called Kölnisch Eis. That's apparently where my grandma got it from, although she had the fluted glass bottle and not the white plastic stick.

Men's perfume, whiskey and feather boas
The jazz club is a good choice. To me, the fragrance smells like a mixture of different perfumes mixed with alcohol. A little tart, a little sweet and a little sweaty.
Of course, the name may also play a part in the perception, but I think the jazz club is a good match.
Would I like to smell like that... Rather not. But the scent is definitely a good match for the name. For me, however, more as a room spray if it fits and the ambience allows it. Like all replica fragrances that I have tested so far. In fact, for me it is more suitable as a scented candle or room spray but not as a perfume for scenting my body.

100% cherry lollipop feeling
Spray and be transported back 40 years to your childhood with this fragrance. I can't believe it's possible. The perfume smells exactly like the Schleckies cherry lollipops used to taste. Wonderfully synthetic and cherry-like. It has little to do with real cherries, but it is exactly the cherry lollipop from my childhood. Love it !
