I actually really like Morning Star, but you shouldn't expect a scent bomb like
Liquide (2022). The fragrance is rather understated, which makes it pleasantly relaxing and not too overpowering .
The first things I notice after spraying it on are the smoky incense note and bergamot. After 20 minutes, cinnamon, the various woods and vetiver join in, making the fragrance a little warmer/drier and more rounded. Unfortunately, there is no dramatic development or surprising twist.
Its longevity on my skin is decent, although after around four hours it becomes noticeably closer to the skin. That's exactly when it takes on what may be its most beautiful character for me. Namely, it's no longer really noticeable to those around you, but rather something you wear for yourself.
So I see it more as a personal comfort scent than a people pleaser. It's one of those fragrances you don't necessarily wear to stand out, but because you want to enjoy it for yourself.
Conclusion:
I'm torn. On the one hand, I like it and think the combination of smoky notes and bergamot is really well executed. However, I find it lacks intensity. So if you're looking for a beast-mode fragrance, you'll be disappointed. But if you prefer gentle, quiet fragrances, this could be just the right one for you . Whether the price-performance ratio works for you is for you to decide . I think it's too expensive for what it is, but that doesn't mean it's bad .
