Three Favourite Noses, Part 1: Anne Flipo
In my last post I introduced my three favourite noses. I'm now dedicating a whole blog post for each of them, starting with Anne Flipo.
She is the creator of my signature scent Violet & Amber Absolu.
I've heard people calling her the queen of flowers, and my signature is indeed an extraordinary dark interpretation of violet, but for me Anne Flipo is actually the queen of exceptional gourmands and classy sweet smells with unique twists.
In my opinion, she's very talented in creating sweet compositions because they are always both easy to wear but also with some surprising, even peculiar facets. I love especially the combinations of salty and sweet, like Olympēa and Libre.
It has actually surprised me how many of her super creative ideas have become even big modern perfumery trends.
Some of her creations are so multi-faceted that they seem to smell different almost every time when wearing them. Like multiple fragrances in one - genius!
In 2021 I found my current signature fragrance Violet & Amber Absolu from Jo Malone's collection. During that time I was going through a very dark phase in my life. I happened to spot that gorgeous bottle online and read about the intriguing note pyramid but had no chance to test the fragrance back then in the middle of the covid-19 lockdown period.
The fragrance was ridiculously expensive. Then I found out that it was actually Anne Flipo's creation. That was it. I decided to spend my all extra money on a blind buy. I was thinking that us depressed people could do even crazier things in order to cheer ourselves up so YOLO and go and press that purchase button girl! 😅💸 And I wasn't disappointed - on the contrary it was pure love at first sniff and has been my signature ever since. It feels so much like me and it's so special because it helped me through the deepest depression.
Anne Flipo just never fails, I can always count on her. Do you have any Anne Flipo favourites?
