Three Favourite Noses, Part 2: Rodrigo Flores-Roux
Continuing the blog post series of my favourite noses with the one and only Rodrigo Flores-Roux!
In the last part of my series I introduced Anne Flipo and called her the queen of gourmands and sweet smells. Rodrigo Flores-Roux instead is the opposite of that, he has said himself that he finds creating gourmands quite challenging so his style is very different. I would call him the king of citruses and freshies!
Many of his creations are art of making something very simple and pure to be so exceptionally beautiful and interesting. I think that the key is his enormous knowledge of the history of fragrances and also art and fashion in general. He catches the popular ideas from history and twistes them into modern, minimalistic, classy form in his special way.
Even his sweeter creations have his certain signature breeze of freshness which makes them extraordinarily versatile and wearable even all year round.
He is also a master of contrasts. He combines light and dark and classic and modern in a brilliant way, and that might even seem contoversial to some. Personally I think it's masterful.
His fragrances may not smell edible but for sure he knows how to create intriguing and surprising tea and coffee note combinations.
I adore his rebellious attitude and the way how he creates fragrances so passionately - he has even said that he won't present to his clients anything that he doesn't personally love.
Anybody else a Rodrigo Flores-Roux fan here?
