Dear Layton Exclusif,
i won't beat about the bush, I've fallen in love with you. The first time I held you in my hands in the form of a bottling and sprayed you on the inside of my arm, my attitude towards perfume changed radically. I had already smelled a lot. From the niche as well as the designer world. However, it was only with you that I began to consider fragrances from my deepest inside as art. You started out similar to your little brother Layton, sweetish, slightly citrusy and fruity, but I immediately realized that a different wind was blowing with you. The woody, oriental base, which became wider and wider on my arm as you went along, was already strongly perceptible at the beginning. Cardamom, sandalwood and above all oud, as it could hardly be more beautiful. The only thing you have in common with your little brother is the vanilla, which runs in the Marly family, with a light! Apple-citrus touch. Also a soft coffee (espresso note) caught my eye and also my fellow men. In my opinion, your very diverse scents, which give a somewhat unusual combination, could not be better coordinated. You are unique and yet very suitable for everyday use. You are simply perfect! Are these the endorphins?

You project forever. Ten hours. Maybe 12. Maybe more. I forget all about time with you. Everyone around us can feel your presence, yet hardly anyone bothers with you. You have a stable, pleasant character, which radiates an aura of sovereignty, masculinity, sensuality and familiarity. Let us be man and fragrance forever, until death do us part

In love
Your Leon

Unnecessary
Based on my personal perception. I became aware of this fragrance through the ever-loving Mr Fragrance. A BR 540 clone for a windfall of money? Sounds tempting. But to me, it has nothing to do with baccarat rouge. Not with the eau de parfum or the Extrait. You can see the attempt to clone BR, but the rough edges that form its character have been polished so smooth with the sweet coconut that it smells like a 0815 women's shower gel. Besides, it is even more synthetic than BR 540, which I had hardly thought possible. Reminds me rather of sweetish - sticky stuff like Herod, but in a very cheap way. Durability is with 3 to maximum 4 hours for the price quite ok. But I have rarely seen a uglier, more unwieldy bottle. So I strongly advise against a purchase, not to mention a blind buy.

Dried blood orange
So, then I'll have a look at the still quite young fragrance from Parfums de Marly called Kalan. When I read the notes, it sounded very promising to me at first. The woody notes in combination with blood orange and spices aroused my deepest interest. I also like the combination of orange blossom and lavender, so I was hoping to see some of the actually good idea behind Gucci Guilty EdT (he said Jehovah, please don't stone me :D) in an improved form as part of the whole. So far so good. When I ordered a bottle of it, I sprayed it directly onto my skin and my expectations were high - and they were met... at the start. A beautifully balanced mixture of blood orange (not at all pungent), spices and some woods spread, a real delight for me. The scent developed and after about an hour I smelled again and shared it with others. What remained were the spices in combination with woods. The blood orange was still well perceptible and gave the whole thing a flair over the whole period. I would draw parallels to Terre d' Hermes perfume here, only with blood orange instead of lemon/grapefruit. But now we come to a real point of criticism on my part. The scent becomes really tart and above all dry with time. If you take a deep nose, you even get a dry mouth despite the pleasant smell. There's no sweetness in this perfume, but there's no really noticeable sweetness either, and the finish is almost dusty. The orange blossom actually forms an undernote with the lavender, which can remind of Guilty when smelling consciously. Age-wise for me clearly 40+. Even compliments will occur very sporadically. At least from about 10 people I interviewed (from different age groups) only one person liked the scent, another found it tolerable. Personally I would like to love it, but I can't ignore the dry, dusty note. If you are the type and can identify with a dry blood orange paired with woods and pepper, this is a good choice. I would also advise Terre d' Hermes lovers to take a test. Leon.

Terre d' Hermes for U30 Parfumos
I really like this scent. Although it is almost only really wearable in the really hot summer days, it is a real alternative to the original, especially for younger Terre d'Hermes lovers. The 3 absolutely dominant notes here are cedar, grapefruit and lemon, which makes it very, very fresh with a woody, deeper base. Vetiver is also noticeable here, but not as much as the original. It is one of my favourite summer scents, as it is very unique and has a nice round citrus aura. Especially recommended for younger men.
