Summer.. at the beach with a coconut for refreshment
After a long time, this scent is worth a review.
When I was on vacation in Mexico in March and was strolling through the tourist area’s department stores, I suddenly found myself in a small perfumery. The selection was fantastic.. from PdM to Acqua di Parma, to Creed & Initio. It was truly a hot summer evening, but there I was, at the Creed counter, reaching for the various bottles.. the new
Absolu Aventus, oh look at that.. took a test strip & sprayed it..
Yes, at first glance, not bad at all. This continued with several fragrances.
Just before my friend called out, "Come on, get out of there already, you can look for perfume at home too," I quickly grabbed the
Virgin Island Water and sprayed it twice on my arm before leaving the store.
I hadn’t really thought about the scent right away. Although I had known it from some time ago, it hadn’t stuck in my mind as something so great.
So we continued to wander around, and I kept smelling my arm.. Wow, this is good.. what’s going on here? The zesty citrus and the slightly accompanying coconut note completely thrilled me that evening. Shortly after, my friend asked, "What did you just spray? It smells really good. Do you have it at home?"
... Not yet, I thought to myself... but that will probably happen...
Back in Germany, I first got a 5ml decant, which was used up pretty quickly. So, what follows: Right, the big bottle has to come.
This scent has truly captivated me. I constantly feel this beautiful, zesty summer citrus and light, not too sweet coconut. This scent is pure summer for me.
I would say it doesn’t clash and is generally well-received. The only weak point is the longevity. Overall, I am satisfied with it. After all, it is really a summer scent, and I get a good 4-6 hours, depending on how warm it actually is & what the circumstances are.
Every time I reapply the scent, it still kicks in for me, and thus the somewhat short longevity is forgiven. The price is steep, but we all know how it is... whether that is justified, everyone has to decide for themselves.
What remains is a new highlight for the summer, which will always remind me of my Mexico vacation & the idea of lying on the beach with a delicious coconut.

The scent that gives me strength
February 6, 2023, a completely normal day at the office so far. It’s quite cold outside and I’m the last to leave.
Once I got into the car, I noticed that something was wrong with my right eye. It wouldn’t close when I blinked. My girlfriend studies medicine, so I sent her a quick recording of it. Alarm! Off to the hospital. This could be a sign of a stroke. After hours of waiting, the examination and the result came. Peripheral facial paralysis.
I had to stay overnight and undergo a lumbar puncture the next day. I’ll spare you the details of what that means.
The next morning in the hospital, I couldn’t believe it; what started as a non-functioning eyelid when blinking turned into a complete paralysis of the right side of my face. Mouth, nose, eyes, forehead. Everything just wouldn’t move anymore, what a feeling!
I then went to my mother and, as is typical with mothers, I was taken care of very well.
At that time, I was totally immersed in the perfume world. I browsed through all kinds of shares here on Parfumo every day.
Among other things, I had ordered 10ml of
Gris Charnel Extrait and the scent finally arrived. I sprayed it carefully on my forearm and could smell it immediately, at least with one nostril. That moment will never leave me.
I couldn’t describe it, but this scent hit me so hard in the synapses that I immediately felt a sense of hope and strength. I called my girlfriend and asked her to smell it too. For her, it was just an "Oh, it smells okay." Excuse me?! How can it be just "okay?" This is it, the scent!!
Over this long time, more and more decants and samples came in. Each time, full of anticipation, I tried everything, but none of them felt like this perfume to me at that time.
Every morning after my "face training," I went to my little decant stand, grabbed this spray bottle, and smelled it. Each time, I was overwhelmed by a kind of warmth and calmness.
The gentle fig, combined with that tea note and the slightly spicy punch just hit me completely. It remains one of my favorite scents, and I wonder why I still don’t have a bottle. The last remnants of the decant are guarded like a baby.
PS: The decant is now empty, and I treated myself to a bottle :)

Summer!!
It was late summer 2018 when I was invited to a vacation in the Dominican Republic through some twists and turns. Suddenly, business class tickets arrived via email. Off to the plane and away we go. Upon arrival, a driver was waiting for us, who drove us across the island from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo in the middle of the night.
No one knew where we were going or how it would end. 2 AM, we drive into a gated community. Heavily armed people stand at a barrier and let us through. I had no idea what was going on. By the way, I was in the car with my friend and her sister.
At some point, we stopped in front of a huge villa. The entrance door was as tall as a garage door. The property was as large as a football field. And then he opened the door.. the boyfriend of my friend's sister.
"Welcome to the Dominican Republic!" We were all dead tired and fell more or less straight into bed.
The next morning, as I went down from the first floor to have breakfast, I smelled it!
"Le Gemme - Tygar | Bvlgari"!
I couldn't initially locate where it was coming from, but this scent grabbed me incredibly!
Don't ask me what I smelled.. it definitely smelled zesty, fresh! (Today I would say I can smell the grapefruit, but also the ginger with its kick a bit more)
I asked the cook if she knew who or what smelled so good?! She laughed and said that's Josh! He's just walking in the incredibly large garden towards the private beach access. I immediately ran over and asked what the hell he was wearing? He said: "Oh I don't know bro I think the bottle is on the table at the bar, I got it on a flight with Qatar Airlines when I went to Dubai, you can have it if you want, I even got 2 of them."
Of course, I replied that it was very kind of him, but I wouldn't accept it. The whole thing about being invited to a vacation felt extremely suspicious and uncomfortable to me.
When I looked at the bottle and started to research, I quickly realized that it costs 300 EUR. At that time, I was certain that I wouldn't buy a bottle for 300 EUR (.. lol ..). Of course, I was annoyed that I hadn't accepted the gift, but to come back now? No..
I searched for a long time afterward, whether there was ever such a bottle on sale, but nothing.. yet thanks to Parfumo, I succeeded! I got my hands on a 30ml bottle of this fragrance. A scent that brings me incredibly beautiful memories from an unbelievably beautiful vacation. I will never forget that!
PS: Josh is a hedge fund manager and incredibly wealthy, doesn’t look it at all, and is an absolutely cool guy!

Honey, Warm Tobacco, and Sweetness

It lasts on my skin for sure 10-12 hours, and throughout the day, this wonderful fragrance keeps coming back. In my opinion, Xerjoff has created a truly fantastic scent in its 1861 collection.
