The Mediterranean Art of Simplicity: Puig's Colonias Absolutas Collection

With the new collection Colonias Absolutas, consisting of four unisex fragrances, the traditional house Puig pays tribute to its heritage, identity and Mediterranean roots.

Developed by French perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, the range harks back to Puig's early years and the tradition of light, aromatic colognes. While three compositions - "Agua Brava (2025)", "Agua Lavanda Iris" and "Agua Noble (2025)" - reinterpret iconic Puig fragrances, "Agua Mediterránea" embodies another vision of Mediterranean freshness as an independent new creation.

For more than a century, Puig has drawn inspiration from the Mediterranean: its light, its landscapes, and its culture. Colonias Absolutas Puig channels this heritage, translating the purity and warmth of the region into fragrance.

Tradition meets modernity

The design also combines past and present: each fragrance is presented in a bottle that goes back to the iconic design by Spanish designer André Ricard from the 1960s - inspired by the shapes of Balearic clay jugs. With their matt, terracotta-colored surface and simple typography, they pay homage to the aesthetics of Mediterranean craftsmanship.

Agua Brava - The essence of Mediterranean herbs

As a tribute to the power of the Mediterranean landscape, the reinterpretation "Agua Brava (2025)" retains the fresh signature of the original from 1968, but gains depth through warm, woody accents.

The composition unfolds with aromatic notes of lavender, clary sage and corn mint, enlivened by the green spice of savory. Oak moss and woods add structure and warmth to the fragrance.

Agua Lavanda Iris - The harmony of lavender and iris

"Agua Lavanda Iris" gives the Puig classic "Agua Lavanda" from 1940 a modern, powdery dimension.

The composition combines the aromatic freshness of lavender with the floral powderiness of white iris. The fragrance is rounded off with notes of ambrette and angelica, which lend it a sensual, warm, slightly earthy depth.

Agua Noble - citrus, leather and orange blossom

"Agua Noble (2025)", a reinterpretation of the 1970 fragrance of the same name, was created in collaboration between Jean-Claude Ellena and Manuel Puig. Originally conceived as a fresh leather fragrance, the composition developed into a warm, floral eau de cologne in which orange blossom sets the central tone.

The top note brings a lively accord of bergamot, mandarin, orange and lemon, while orange leaf and orange blossom lend the heart a green, floral facet. Spanish leather in the base note rounds off the composition and provides a sensual warmth.

Agua Mediterránea - Fig leaf and sea breeze

With the fig leaf in the center, "Agua Mediterránea" is intended to convey the feeling of a summer's day in the shade of a fig tree.

To capture the breeze of a Mediterranean morning, the composition opens with a green, fresh accord of fig leaf, mint and bitter orange. Nuances of cedar wood unfold in the base, rounding off the fragrance and lending it a velvety warmth.

The new fragrances are available in 200 ml bottles.
