This does not smell like the hotel, and it's fine...
... my favourite hotel's scent is called 'Black Orchid'. Whilst they do have a perfume version of it, it smells not close as amazing as to what they pump in the air in Hong Kong. So, I went ahead and blind bought a bottle of Tom Ford's Black Orchid in the hope it is similar. It is not.
I actually have never smelled it before, since I am usually not a great fan of Tom Ford perfumes and find them overprices for what they deliver.
Now, what I got is a spicy concoction in which I can zero of the mentioned blackcurrant, even the truffle is hard to detect as a truffle person but I can attest a certain woody and dirtiness for sure.
There's something that resembles the smell of the Ritz, that must be Black Orchid, so far so good. I do get some of the fruit on the dry down, plenty of wood and strong hints of patchouli and some vetiver kick.
This is a fundamental unisex fragrance. I can see how people hate it, I can see how people think its overprices, I really like it, but am not sure if I buy it again.
My biggest issue is - I don't think it performs well. Probably my skin or my nose, but after an hour or so it's very much a skin scent. Even, when I spray it on fabric.
Anyway - smells nothing like the hotel, I am glad I bought it anyway. What rambling! Cheers!

My favourite Boss
Granted, I am not a big Boss fragrance fan and my second favourite probably is Boss Number one (the real vintage one) but Oud Saffron stands out to me! I love both the darkness, deepness of Oudh and the spicy components of Saffron.
This has both and plenty of it. The slight sweetness to it might or might to be the indicated rose. Probably is, because it in itself has a certain spice or metallic feel to it. Maybe a rose oxide or something similar.
To me, this is as close of a master piece as you might get from a house like Boss on designer perfume shelves.
Only caveat is, I do not think you can wear this in summer. This is dark, heavy, full bodies and radiates warmth. One of the very perfumes of which I purchased a second bottle to keep for the future.
