The Slightly Different Fig
Ichnusa is one of those fragrances that brings a smile to your face at first sniff. What an incredibly beautiful and somewhat different freshie!
The scent starts off super intense with plenty of power. The myrtle and fig leaf really kick in and go straight to the nose. The result is a wonderfully fresh perfume that stands out distinctly from other freshies and possesses a lot of character. The fig leaf is really well captured here and makes the fragrance, in my opinion, quite unique.
Moreover, Ichnusa comes across as incredibly photorealistic - Profumum Roma manages to make perfumes feel like scenes plucked from reality. To me, Ichnusa smells like an afternoon in midsummer, one that can only be endured while lying in a hammock in the dappled shade, as now and then the gentle and warm sea breeze brings the scent of the shade-giving fig tree to your nose.
As the scent develops, it loses some of its initial power and becomes more intimate. Consequently, Ichnusa projects a bit less after the first hour, but gains in sensuality. For me, the perfume then develops a certain closeness to Aqua di Sale from the same house, just a bit less maritime. Even though the longevity isn't quite as good as that of its more famous brother.
For me, Ichnusa is a crisp and fresh fig scent that tends to lean more towards the masculine side. Especially due to the rather sharp, green notes in the opening. Later, it becomes a bit creamier, but remains fresh.
Anyone looking for a fresh fragrance with decent longevity and that certain something will hit the mark with Ichnusa.
