What a fragrance. First: chalk-white iris that makes you shudder with delight. Then: the metamorphosis. I usually use the term "sensual" sparingly, and "erotic" rarely rolls off my tongue easily. Here, however - both fit perfectly. I see rumpled bed sheets reaching into the farthest corners of the republic. Test it yourself! I wish you sleepless nights, wherever you are.

Angular Beauty
Violets - controversially staged.
Carried by iris and
incense sticks.
In feud with charred wood,
chilled, weathered.
With a sweet balsam of cedar in
correspondence.

A beautiful scent, enchanting and demanding.

Mysterious
A strange fragrance. Somehow, a sample reached me some time ago, and the anticipation for the test was so great that it had to be postponed several times. Only under ideal conditions should the precious elixir touch the skin - after all, it's an Amouage, and a discontinued one at that.

Well, what can I say, today was the day, and by the end of the day, I felt relieved that Arcus is only perceptibly toned down on my wrist. What on earth were they thinking back then?

The scent starts sweetly, with a rather finely differentiated leaf green that hovers over a densely constructed, fruity freshness. So far, so good. However, after a short time, the enchanting beginning transitions into a truly uncharming chewing gum note. With all due respect, I encounter such things regularly in the food sector when it comes to marketing energy drinks or gummy bears. But that's not all. Initially imperceptibly, a piercing metallic accord is added to the fruity medley, which completely ruins the fragrance for me. The typical Amouage longevity now unfolds a certain torment.

Based on the fragrance notes, I certainly did not expect an oriental scent. That's not inherently a quality characteristic. But this? Leaves me feeling slightly disturbed. So be it, let's move on. There are still Epic, Dia, and Jubi.

Diglyceride
Mouth open, eyes closed. Spray cream can ready. Slow, circular movements fill the mouth to the brim, and then, with a broad grin, the contents are devoured. Mmm... A classic among birthday activities.

Alternatively: A Tyrolean country inn. Kaiserschmarrn, freshly served in the pan. Once the delicacy has been consumed, the waistband - accompanied by praises for the fine meal - must be discreetly loosened. A fruit brandy would be just right now. The service takes its time clearing the table, the gaze drifts over the pan. Are there not still a few raisins, almond slivers, and dough remnants in the melted butter? Hard to resist. Quickly, the fork is lifted once more for a final pick.

Or this one: The ice cream parlor around the corner, a hot afternoon. Nut-nougat sundae. The once lovingly arranged masterpiece has long since lost its solid state. Stylishly, you stir the remnants with the graceful ice cream spoon, only to then indulgently sip the emulsion through a straw from the trapezoidal glass.

I know no one who pays tribute to food fats as devotedly as Shunkoin. This scent melts on the skin like a piece of marshmallow in a child's mouth. Fans of strongly sugary scent experiences may find it somewhat limited here. The focus of Shunkoin is clearly on mono- and diglycerides. A gentle, foamy experience, dense and floating at the same time. Once the sprayer is pressed, every escape becomes futile.

Des Smutjes Kochschürze
Cocinar (Spanish - to cook) would also be quite a fitting name. Because anyone who takes a deep breath here in anticipation of a classic aquatic will soon find themselves disillusioned and ready to give up. Navegar was undoubtedly designed for a subtle appearance.

Overall, we are dealing with a - quite well-made - galley scent. It smells herbal, steamed, peppery, everything that finds its way into Smutjes Kochschürze throughout a long workday. It has also been significantly diluted from all the hand wiping after numerous rounds of washing up.

Please don't get me wrong, Navegar definitely has its charm. However, I feel that a touch more ruggedness could have benefited the composition. I can still detect a bit of lime. The rum has been heavily diluted by the captain. And one waits in vain for fresh spray to stir up the kitchen aromas a bit: the porthole remains closed.
