Moves through distinct phases
It really does smell like cedar, and then like cool powdery clay (that's iris), and then the myrrh is really present and it's sweet and spicy for a while, and then finally it's just kind of baby-powdery, but a little elevated. Very lovely and well done, but I found myself wishing for more linearity. Each phase was so nice, I wanted to smell them together!
Tortilla, rose potpourri... where's the cocoa?
If you could make tortillas out of dried roses, they would smell like this. After an hour it was a generic musk. There was the tiniest bit of cocoa, like trying to lick the flecks left in a candy wrapper. Profoundly unsatisfying on every count. The name was the biggest letdown, but I don't think I would have liked it even if it hadn't set such high expectations.
Beautiful, almost too real
It doesn’t smell like flowers, exactly - I just got the crystal-clear impression of the fuzzy pistils inside of a giant lily. There’s vanilla in here? I don’t get it. It’s a little too real, like the standing water from a grocery store flower display. It’s a little off-smelling up close. I’m so intrigued by how real and living this is, but I don’t want to smell like this.
Juicy, grassy, woody fig
Really gorgeous juicy fig with spicy wood and fresh grass in the background. If I’d found this before Debaser I might have bought it, but I prefer the creaminess of Debaser just slightly, although I really dig the fruity sweetness in this one. In color terms, it’s a little more pinky-purple, a little less green.
Damp, alive, cool, shady
You know in a Ghibli movie, where something magical happens and the main character's hair floats up a little? That was me smelling this. It's rich, loamy soil, held in the hands of a beautiful woman with lipstick on. It approaches in such a gentle waft that you can't help but try to fill your lungs with it. I don't know if it's rainy forest exactly, but it's somewhere damp and alive and cool and shady. Beautiful to smell, but I don't know if I would wear it.
