In the Nightly Silence
Oh dear, oh dear... What am I reading here? My beloved Icon is being torn apart? No, I can't do that to "my" Icon and must immediately defend my nightly companion...

I became aware of it when I read in an American forum that this scent is said to be very similar to the old Jovan Ginseng from 1975. And since I am very interested in the Jovan classics, my interest was piqued. Given the already ridiculously low price, it was no big risk....

And what can I say? I love it! And I mean really love it!
For 3 years, it has been a constant in my collection, which, especially in recent years, considering the fragrance inflation I am experiencing (thanks to Parfumo), says something...

I use it gladly and regularly, but - and this is significant - only at night! This scent does not suit me during the day, not in the light. It is the first choice in darkness, silence, and solitude. What a wonderful companion when you are out late...

The scent itself is heavy for me, yet fresh and somehow very clean. It is not intrusive, it caresses the wearer, and even after frequent use, it does not become annoying. It presents itself almost a bit sweetly. I also notice a certain closeness to Halston.

No, there is no question, this scent once again shows that good perfumes do not have to be expensive. Additionally, it comes in a very stylish and high-quality bottle. Zirh has proven its fragrance competence here at the latest...

So go for it if you can get it. More good perfume for even less money is not possible!

Warm regards from Saxony

A Great Exception
With celebrity fragrances, it's a bit of a mixed bag: The namesakes are often athletes, actors, musicians, or whatever else. And they are successful and capable. At least most of the time. Well, or at least sometimes...

It's only fitting that a star should have a fragrance of their own. But oh dear: Just as some stars can neither sing nor act nor do anything meaningful, most of them also can't launch a good fragrance. Or they don't want to, since ultimately, besides the prestige, it's primarily about earning a few extra million. Who cares what kind of liquid is in the bottle? The good name should suffice for the common folk. The main thing is that it gets bought, bought, bought...

And so we have been annoyed for years by the scent clouds of amateur perfumers, because - one must give them credit - these products achieve wide distribution thanks to their name.

But beware, here comes the great exception!

I was actually skeptical that the not-so-sympathetic Elizabeth Taylor would hit my taste with her cheap plastic bottle.

But hello, what do we have here? Great class! A truly characterful and - in my opinion - also masculine fragrance for men in their more mature years. No, you don't find something like this on every corner. Despite the cheap price and poor presentation, one can clearly stand out from the mainstream.

The scent is warm, spicy, a bit woody. Typical of the 80s, or even reminiscent of the 70s. Sillage and longevity are very good. Broadly speaking, there are echoes of KL Homme or Jovan's "Sex Appeal." If you like those, you're in the right place.
As I said, in my opinion, it is also very masculine, but rather for men and not for boys. (For them, "Dieter Bohlen's supermegaawesome pimple water" is more suitable anyway.) Here, maturity is required - and in the most positive sense!
Whether it's wearable for women, as is sometimes recommended, I cannot judge. I would have my doubts...

At this point, a respectful "*THANK YOU*" to the good old Liz Taylor for leaving us such a beautiful and original fragrance.
Test recommendation!

A warm greeting from Saxony

Oh, how unfair life is....
Poor Trussardi "My Land". Life is sometimes really so unfair! Because I honestly cannot understand how the community's rather mediocre ratings can be explained.

After all, everything seems to be right: a beautiful bottle, a big name, an acceptable price, and a pleasant, fresh yet clean scent. Plus, it has a quite decent sillage. Nothing feels cheap. Yet that doesn't seem to be enough. Meanwhile, one can buy much worse fragrances for a lot more money elsewhere...

No, one should not hide the light of this perfume under a bushel. Maybe it's not an outstanding superstar, but it is absolutely suitable for everyday wear, also great for going out.

Another example of how much some perfumes are underestimated - and often for inexplicable reasons. Absolute test and purchase recommendation!

If I Were Rich...
A truly great fragrance. No question about it! Light, caressing, pleasantly woody, almost even a bit erotic. It smells modern, is unobtrusive, perhaps a little too unobtrusive. But the price is beyond good and evil...

One of the qualities of a fragrance is also its affordability. Or what good is the most beautiful and enchanting scent if an average person cannot afford it? I prefer an Opel that I drive every day to a Porsche that I can only dream of...

Therefore, I believe there is indeed a question about the justification of those unattainable luxury fragrances. Sure, a small elite will enjoy it. But the common people will have to practice restraint (as so often in life).
In my eyes, this is a clear and significant downside - even if a perfume is as wonderful as this one...

When You're Once Poor
Ok, I know it: It's just a copy, a very cheap one at that. True! But an astonishingly good one! You don't find that every day. Some dupes vanish after just a few minutes or have such a strange musty smell from the start that you can barely sense the original.

But this copy of Jean Paul Gaultier's "Le Male" is exceptionally well done. Not only is the scent good, but also - for a dupe, as mentioned, very unusually - the sillage and longevity. Caution is advised when dosing.
The bottle? Let's not talk about that. What can you expect for less than 3 euros per 100ml?

For Gaultier, this is a medium image disaster. The price of just 2.99 euros puts the brand in a tough spot. The fact that the original is almost 20 times more expensive is hard to justify rationally. The usual argument about better, more natural ingredients doesn't really convince either.

However, all those whose wallets are particularly small can rejoice. Even with the smallest means, you can smell good. And that's the reason why such cheap perfumes have their place.
But those who are not financially dependent on it will ultimately always do better with the original, that much is clear...

Warm regards from (thankfully) not entirely poor Saxony
