Sunset behind the date palms
It's a warm evening, around 26 degrees, when I sit down on my balcony and close my eyes. I can still smell the spices of the bazaar I've just experienced. No more voices, no more stress, just me and this moment.

I slowly feel the warmth of the setting sun on my skin, while the rose garden below me slowly and quietly creeps into my nose. The evening unfolds its full splendor, now the smell of sliced, sweet and juicy dates is added and rounds off this smell in a beautiful way.

Losing myself further in this fragrance, after about an hour I find the smell of the almonds I brought back from the bazaar. The evening, the roses and dates fade quietly away and the wonderful smell of fresh almonds accompanies me into the night...

Jardins de Misfah Eau de Parfum has captivated me from the very beginning. It delivers exactly what Une Nuit Nomade promises, it is not just a fragrance, it is an experience, a journey into the Misfah Al Abriyyin, which was the inspiration for this fragrance. It combines sweet, gourmand notes with oriental spice and floral elegance to create an attractive, yet extraordinary fragrance.

The fragrance's floral note makes it versatile and wearable throughout the seasons. I can imagine wearing it in winter as well as on a warm summer evening. Due to its partly gourmand notes, it is also quite pleasing and meets with almost no rejection, but still retains its special, eye-catching touch that distinguishes it from other sweet (designer) fragrances. It is unisex anyway.

Last but not least: If Jardins de Misfah Eau de Parfum were a song, it would be Aphrodite by RINI. The song perfectly reflects the attractive, slightly seductive but above all momentarily indulgent aura of the fragrance.

You too, Brutus?
03. January 2025: I'm walking through the alleyways of Travestere, Rome, with my girlfriend. Life is buzzing in this settlement, restaurants, cafés and bars are lined up one after the other, trying to outdo each other. However, I noticed a small perfumery there, which of course had to be visited (for those interested, it was Romastore 63, Profumeria Artistica, a niche perfumery like the ones in a picture book).
The first impression made it even more interesting, no Xerjoff and no PDM to be seen. Instead, Nasomatto, Orto Parisi, Gritti and Dyptique were lined up. I only got to know most of the brands as a result.

I met Brutus at this almost perfect location and fell more and more in love with him over the course of the evening. But now to the fragrance itself:

It starts off somewhat challenging with a citrusy, slightly alcoholic note, at first it seems very pungent. It continues to change more and more, becoming softer and more balsamic, somewhat woody and slowly coming to rest. Even if it is one of the lighter fragrances for an Orto Parisi, you have to bring some time with you and allow it to unfold, give it space and the peace to unfold
The first 30 minutes of the fragrance are very exciting and artistically well executed, in my opinion. Brutus stings first, then there is hustle and bustle and some confusion before it calms down and becomes more pleasant.
In the drydown, the fragrance is an absolute stunner and reveals its best side. Here it becomes increasingly earthy and mossy. The mossy note in particular is incredibly well presented. Brutus is now standing in a sunset in a field outside Rome, looking out over the vastness of the land, brooding, reflecting on what has just happened.

What is also special about Brutus is that it never really comes to rest, until it fades the fragrance is still partially different, the earthy-mossy basic structure remains the same, but sometimes also reveals itself with a sweet or creamy component.

As usual with Orto Parisi, the longevity is of course also outstanding; I can still feel the fragrance on my skin after >16 hours. Sillage is more restrained compared to other OP fragrances, but generally still very good.

For me, Brutus was my entry into the niche world and will always have a special place. I generally consider it a very good introduction to the fragrances of Alessandro Gualtieri and can recommend it to everyone for testing. I would generally advise against blind purchases, but especially with Gualtieri fragrances.

Last but not least, if Brutus were a song, it would be Now We Are Free by Hans Zimmer - the theme tune to the first "Gladiator" part. The scent would also fit the main character perfectly...

In that sense: My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the Armies of the North. General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife - and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

See you then.

A touch of new beginnings and nostalgia...
"You or someone like you" by Etat Libre D'Orange is a green, fresh fragrance that stands out above all for its price-performance ratio and is great to wear in spring/summer as a daily and also in the office, for example. That was the short review, if you want to hear ramblings, just read on :)

We start with a very realistic mint in this fragrance, which fortunately does not come across as chewing gum, but is very refreshing and real.
This mint does not last long, it is just a first moment, a short phase of getting to know each other, before the fragrance moves on and only the idea of a minty note remains in the nose.
The fragrance then changes into a fresh, slightly grassy direction, basically reminding me of the smell of freshly mown grass, with very light floral notes in the background.
The fragrance remains fresh and green in the drydown, but the grassy note fades more and more and only its idea remains in the air before the fragrance slowly and quietly fades away...

in my eyes, "You or someone like you" combines the freshness and awakening that spring brings after winter and creates an immediate feeling of happiness. With its thoroughly green nature, it makes you want to go out into the garden, the lawn and the first rays of sunshine after cold days.

On the other hand, it triggers a strange feeling of melancholy in me, it somehow reminds me of my childhood, of the lawn on which I played soccer as a little boy, of the smell when dad mowed in the garden and I came home after elementary school and had this smell in my nose. The scent is pure lightness and light-heartedness, it makes me smile thoughtfully and reminisce. And it fades just as quickly as the memory ends and brings me back to the here and now. Only the thought of that time floats quietly in my head and the scent in the room.

"You or someone like you" by Etat Libre D'Orange is my first fragrance from this brand and it didn't disappoint. I can recommend everyone to try this fragrance, it is perfect for spring. Unfortunately, the H/S leaves a lot to be desired, but I am happy to spray this fragrance again because the minty-fresh kick is a very nice, well-made refreshment.

Last but not least: If this perfume were a song, it would be "Evergreen" by Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners. The song is accompanied by the same light-heartedness and smiling nostalgia that can be found in the fragrance.

Give me attention!
JPG Le Male Elixir was one of the first designers I bought for myself. This was largely influenced by the "FragranceTok" hype in winter 23. I was mainly concerned with compliments and that's why I bought it blind. If so many people recommend it, it can't be bad.

The fragrance starts very synthetically in my opinion and for me, the mint is particularly prominent at the beginning. It's not really pleasant, but the opening fits the youthful image that the fragrance has.
After that, it slowly gets better, I notice the cinnamon note very strongly and especially the vanilla. Unfortunately, there is still a relatively synthetic aftertaste to this fragrance that I don't really like. I also notice tonka bean and lavender, but not as present as cinnamon and vanilla.

And that brings us to the main problem with the fragrance:
It has no depth whatsoever, I don't find it really gourmand either, rather it just screams "Here I am, look at me!" with its overloaded sweetness. It is a recommendation for young people who like to go to clubs and hope to attract attention, as most people find it quite nice smelling. But nobody screams wow either...
Of course, there is no real art behind it, so anyone looking for something along these lines should keep their distance.

I don't regret having bought it, as it helped to increase my interest in fragrances, but I wouldn't buy it again, it's too overloaded and one-sided for me. And there are much better, sweeter fragrances for the price.

If JPG Le Male Elixir were a song, it would be Something Going On - Kompa Gouyad Solo Slowed Down Edit. Something else is probably out of the question due to the TikTok background ;)

Self-confidence in a bottle
As you can already see from the title - I became aware of this fragrance through MilanScent. I checked the code and then of course I had to get the Pernoire Discovery Set first.

General information about the set: Price-performance really top, with code I was at about 22€ for 9 2ml samples, really great to test the fragrances several times in peace and by the way also beautifully presented.

But about Amoral: It was the first fragrance I tested from the set and it took some time. At first smell it seemed strange to my nose, especially the plum in the top note took some getting used to. My previous fragrances were rather easier to understand. But not Amoral, this fragrance is definitely more complex and multi-layered and requires a little more practice and time.

After the plum fades into the background, the oudy side of the fragrance emerges with a slight animalic quality, creating a darker, deeper image of the fragrance and radiating a self-confident aura. The fragrance is constantly present and shows that it gets what it wants.

Over time, the fragrance becomes more and more fascinating and after my nose has gotten used to the slightly animalic oud, I think it is fantastic and definitely a recommendation to test it and really give it time and test it in different situations and moods.

Finding the perfect occasion is just as interesting, for me it is definitely not an everyday fragrance, let alone suitable for the office, but requires a special occasion for which you want to radiate pure self-confidence and will.
(Perhaps you can tell the influence of Milan on my perception, his description simply fits like a glove.)

If the fragrance were a song, it would be "Runnin" by 21 Savage and Metro Boomin. Dark, self-confident aura with a "forward" flow.
