Squid ink pasta
Deep in the sea. Thick, dense, salty inked water. Slimy and gelatinous squid flesh. Sprinkled with pink pepper. Cold.

Almost edible? There's an ever-so-slight sweetness to it.

It feels old and wise but still a little fresh.

Mysterious musks.

I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. I'm confused.

Surprisingly wearable.

Worthy of its name
Yep. That's an elephant.

An elephant munching and crunching on coconuts, its ears flapping to cool itself down in the dry afternoon heat. Scorched leaves swaying on a nearby bush. The dry roots of a tree undulating through compacted earth.

The warm chocolate coconut base is almost suffocating. It gives it a lightly animalic and dirty quality.

I could never wear this. I think I would probably be sick, but it's beautiful.

Yay, elephants!

Not enough MOO
A smooth, milky fog flowing down a field of white flowers. Drifting over the warm memory of a cow that once lay in the grass, its hair previously washed using apple shampoo. Rounded out by powdery, clean musk.

Addictive to smell.

It's good, but it's lacking in the cow department. The fragrance has the smoothness of milk but doesn’t actually smell like milk. It would've been interesting to see a fermented, slightly sour yoghurt smell or maybe a sprinkle of soil.

An idealised memory of a cow, so detached from an actual cow, bringing into question whether you could even call this perfume 'Cow'.

Very similar to an apple deodorant I own.

Overall, it's disappointing and sort of boring but smells lovely.

Rose in a blender
I think I blind-bought this and probably regretted it when I took my first sniff, but it grew on me. The rose dug its thorns into my skin.

At first, it's astringent. Green. So incredibly green. Bitter and almost peppery. You could shove a couple of leaves into your nose and get the same smell. However, the rose starts to poke through over time with plump, soft, and sweet petals.

It's like taking the whole rose plant (thorns, stems, leaves, etc.) and throwing it in a blender. Crushed, mushed, sliced and diced into a fragrant, lumpy paste.

It's a fragrance that I must be in the right mood for.

A love-hate relationship, but mostly love.

Oomph
The pencil shavings of your dreams.

Will it make your perfume project to the moon and last until the sun dies? No.

Will it add some oomph and extra woody nuances? Oui!

I don't have strong feelings towards or for this fragrance. If it were to disappear from my collection tomorrow, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. I still reach for it now and then, though.

It smells good and makes other fragrances a little more interesting. Underneath green, woody, or musky scents, it creates a base reminiscent of a sturdy wooden stool. No one knows where the stool came from, who made it, or why it's even there, but they all respect it for what it is. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

(Stool as in the furniture. Not the *other* stool.)
