I want to be where Elephant is
I liked Elephant the first few times I tried it, but now wholeheartedly LOVE it. On days I’m not wearing it, I still find myself reaching for the bottle to have a little sniff - it’s one of the most addictive fragrances I own.

At first, it was hard to get my head around this intriguing scent. Elephant is lush, green and grassy but at the same time sweet, dark, warm and dry. It’s like crunching on raw cacao nibs and dead tree bark, while being surrounded by dense greenery humming with live, somewhere deep in the jungle. It’s like two separate tracks playing at once that shouldn’t go together, but somehow create a perfect side by side harmony.

As it settles, the dry down turns soft and creamy, almost milky, with a woody warmth that feels like hugging the oldest, biggest tree in the rainforest. There’s something calming and grounding about it, like it's telling you that everything is going to be okay.

Elephant manages to evoke the feeling of different textures in one scent. Crunchy leaves, silky magnolia, rough bark, creamy coconut.. Elephant doesn’t just smell like a place, it feels like it.

As a perfume, this is unbearable; as art, it’s marvellous
While I do not like the scent, it can’t help but marvel at the composition and how it embodies the animal of the same name.

On the first spray over is hit by a trumpeting mushy green vegetation, with a soil-like quality running through. A dusty old hay stack, used as a bed for some creature starts to come through. How I have described this makes it seem as if this is a slow progression, it is not. This reminds me of a orchestral piece I went to see in Hamburg (Germany) a few years ago. It was a disjointed ensemble of clashing chords and notes that melded into something where you lost yourself in trying to pick out the individual instruments. Despite the noise art was made due to the masterful composition and performance. I feel that here. My ears thoroughly enjoyed the piece, the name of which escapes me; but elephant is a fragrance my nose is not fond of.

Looking at the notes you could never tell how violent and destructive this fragrance is (that’s the vibe I get from this, an angry/testy bull elephant). It may behave differently on skin, but I dare not try it on mine.

La Grandeur de Ganesh
Elephant begins with an intense rush of green foliage in the opening as you crash through the bushes. Then, notes of coconut milk and cacao intermingle before the expedition comes to an end in a beautifully blended base of sandalwood.

Wafts of sillage are trumpeted at a medium volume and the longevity lasts with you throughout the day. It is a truly unique experience that brings a smile to your face with every whiff.

A wonderful journey of scent through the jungles of India.

tranquil jungles
wow wow wow! one of my favorites from this house. This is definitely not for everyone and I think that’s why I love this so much. This opens with a bitter and sharp grass note that was initially very off putting and made me literally say “this is a no…” but very quickly the dry down begins and it’s beautiful! You get a creamy, soft, and fresh coconut with a powdery chocolate and the tea shows up more. It’s woody, fresh, and softly sweet with an earthy chocolate and coconut pulp. This feels like an elephant sitting down for a cup of tea with chocolate biscuits after running through the damp forest, green leaves covering every inch of the floor as they stampede through. Then the full dry down is a cozy, creamy sandalwood with sweet musk and warm amber, the tea and chocolate notes still present adding an aromatically green and earthy air. This is an elephant cozied up in a cove of tall trees, with a breeze through the branches after it’s rained, the tea sits half drunken in its cup, biscuit crumbs left behind. Truly atmospheric and nature in a sweet memory.

I am sitting in a tree as the sun rises, heat hits the leaves as I eat sweet coconut, far away the temple music plays as the incense is lit

A unique lactonic/creamy fragrance that transitions from musky milkiness into green herbaciousness over its lifespan. Feminine leaning.

Green cocoa pod it smells raw and crude with white floral and creamy undertones giving it a calming edge, very round and beautifully composed scent

Smells very Thai. Almost gourmand in a curry sort of way. Benzoin, sandalwood, jasmine, coconut cream, bitter greenery. Weird but beautiful

The more I wear it the more I love it. Cool, cocoa and tea on a musky wood that goes and goes.

Tropical jungle. Smoky green tea that adds in coconut cream and cocoa, but neither are overly sweet. Not sunscreen-y at all.

Unusual creamy, tropical scent with a mix of woody, earthy notes. Projection and longevity are worse than expected for an elephant

An unusually green gourmond. Imagine an elephant chomping down raw cocoa pods, and whole coconuts, leaves and all. Nice in cooler months.
