The Ultimate Feel-Good Dry-Down
A few months ago, when I came home with countless white strips from the perfume store/drugstore, my goal was to finally find a nice everyday companion for myself. I really wanted to like D&G Light Blue Intense and sniffed it every few minutes to convince myself. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that; the citrusy opening of Light Blue is too piercing. However, there was another fragrance that managed to impress. Also with citrusy freshness, but by no means as sharp, yet invigorating and subtly sparkling.

Dylan Blue opens with crisp green apple, lime-citrusy, even though there is no lime in it. For some, it might even be slightly piercing. However, this fades after a few seconds, and an aquatic freshness surrounds you. It reminds one of a morning shower, a refreshing shower gel, or even more fitting, a luxurious shampoo with green Granny Smith apple. About 15 minutes later, a creaminess and subtle sweetness join in, slowly replacing the aquatic notes and eventually catching up with the citrusy aspect. Now it’s time for it to shine; the ultimate feel-good dry-down presents itself and stays.

This dry-down knows how to impress. I see it in every setting, whether professional or leisure. It would even work for a daytime date. With Dylan Blue Pour Femme, a woman smells well-groomed, not too conspicuous, but extremely pleasant. The sillage is mediocre, but it’s not a skin scent either, perhaps after 4-5 hours. The longevity is good, around 6 hours. On clothing, it lasts for days and makes them smell totally pleasant. This should be available as a laundry detergent. I wouldn’t say the scent is elegant. It’s more fresh, bright, active. It radiates both in cool and warm, in dark and light.

The bottle is a matter of taste, but there’s nothing to complain about in terms of craftsmanship. High-quality, heavy, beautifully made. I'm always a fan of gold & blue; that’s totally my style. That’s why the bottle immediately appealed to me. And even though many say they would expect a heavy, oriental scent with such a bottle, I must say the fragrance fits very well with its exterior appearance. The sight of the deep royal blue makes me think of a luxurious spa, a little bit even of a deep blue sea and the freshness of a sea breeze. That works for me.

For all those ladies who like "clean bear" scents, appreciate a light fruitiness and sweetness, and desire a feel-good dry-down like freshly showered & moisturized, Dylan Blue Pour Femme is a great everyday companion!

Alluring You
I first smelled this fragrance in the original Glossier flagship store in New York. I went there to see if the hype was justified. The store was located in a loft several floors up. To get in, you had to stand in line first. Later, one of the staff members, dressed in pink overalls, led me to the elevator, which took me and a few other customers up to the loft. If I remember correctly, you could already perceive a pleasant scent in the elevator. By the time I reached the loft, it was omnipresent, the Glossier You. I must say, the scent didn't stand out to me right away. There were so many impressions to take in from the museum-like store that my thoughts were simply elsewhere. I strolled through the store for a long time, examining everything closely and testing products. I had never seen anything like it before. A very interesting concept.

At that time, I found the products to be nothing extraordinary. There were some nice items. It wasn't until later that I grew to love some Glossier products, and I now consider them perfect everyday staples in my routine, but that's another topic.

Back to the essentials. As I said, I spent a long time in the store and felt very comfortable. There was also Glossier You, and back then, there was also the Solid. I briefly looked at both. I don't think I tested the fragrance at that time, but I didn't need to because it was wafting throughout the entire store. I only noticed that towards the end of my visit. It was one of those "What smells so irresistibly good here - alluring, warm, cozy, inviting?" moments. Not as intense as you might find in Hollister stores with the scent "Socal." At Glossier, it was subtle, in the background, comforting, embracing. I found it wonderful, extremely alluring; it just wouldn't leave my mind.

To me, it smells slightly sweet and powdery, but really only slightly. The subtly peppery note stands out, as there is pink pepper in it. I wouldn't say it's fresh, more warm. Like a person you feel safe with. Like a partner after a long day. Like skin? Yes - but slightly sweet, peppery - very lightly.

I bought the Solid later that same week. I loved it. Just for the packaging, it was worth the money. I would have kept it forever, as a memento of my trip. Unfortunately, the pink metal packaging tarnished completely after about 2 years, and the Solid no longer made a good impression because of that - it has now also been discontinued. A year later, I bought the bottle as well. It looks nice, but nothing special - the pink somehow fits well with the scent, and the red cap reminds me of the pepper. The perfume was my signature scent for a long time. It didn't give me headaches, and my stomach was happy with it (many fragrances upset my stomach). It lasts a long time, but you only smell it on yourself every now and then - it surrounds you more like a second skin. The Solid had no real sillage, but the perfume did, though not too far-reaching. Many people who have this scent say they receive a lot of compliments for it. I can't confirm that for myself. I felt more like I smelled very pleasant to those around me, but I didn't create any "head-turner/wow effects."

I sold my bottle of You last year. I really liked the perfume, and if I catch a whiff of it somewhere again, I'm sure it will bring back some wonderful memories of NYC and the time I wore it. But in the long run, it felt too smooth for me. It's not smooth, but after wearing it for a few years, it became that way for me. Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely. It is something special, ideal for everyday wear, work, or a date. It creates a cozy feeling. Is it a must-have? No, I wouldn't say that, but if you get the chance to test it, you should definitely do so; there's nothing to regret. I find the price reasonable as well; it's best to buy it during the Black Friday sale. Unfortunately, Glossier does not yet ship to Germany. You can only order it online in certain countries (including a few in the EU) or visit one of the stores in the USA or the one in the UK.
