Amazing Granny Smith becomes an unfortunate muddled synthetic mess
This perfume was the last one I had to try of the three Dylan for women (Dylan Purple and Turquoise have already been tested and reviewed). Smelling it in store convinced me to grab a travel size of it to test it out further at home.

It's a good thing I refrained myself from buying a 30ml (I'm really impulsive) because now that it's living on my skin, the result is pretty disappointing. Even though the top notes started out with this beautiful tart and crisp granny smith apple, the rest is kind of disappointing. During the better parts of the fragrance, there was the aforementioned apple note, but also a slightly green and fresh floral vibe (probably from the clove and the synthetic ingredients?). In the background, I could smell a slightly fruity, powdery and sweet accord reminiscent of Rockets candy that I truly enjoyed more than I thought. Everything unfortunately came to a grinding halt when the granny smith left its place for a plasticky, cheap scent instead. I could no longer really detect any notes in this messy jumble. It smelled like generic mall perfume.

I know my skin tends to muddle and transform synthetic notes into plasticky cheap scents, so that might be a me (skin chemistry) problem. I really wished the perfume had worked well if only for that amazing green, tart, tangy and juicy granny smith scent, but the rest isn't worth it. I'll probably be trying to empty or sell my travel size. Unfortunate!

Versace pour Femme Dylan Blue
This perfume is a classic example of why you can't take every review you read to heart. I did my homework with this. I researched and read every review that I could find and they were decidedly mixed which made me nervous to do a blind buy on a full bottle (even though some of my favourite YouTube reviewers seemed to really like it, making me think that I'd like it too.) So I decided to order a sample, just incase I didn't like it. That way, it would be cost effective and no great loss if it was a big negative for me.

Many of the reviews had stated that it "smelled generic and was nothing special" and that it had a "shampoo vibe" to it. That's what I was bracing myself for.

Upon first spray, the first thing I notice is a white flower, jasmine! I haven't had the best of luck with jasmine in fragrances in the past (I'm lookin' at you Bvlgari Jasmin Noir!) but the jasmine here is soft, rounded, creamy, even-tempered and non-screechy. It's surprisingly lovely and I knew right away that I wasn't going to have a problem with it. That was really the only note that I could specifically pick out. That's because this concoction is smooth and so well blended. A little sweet and a little flowery.

I let it dry down and I can honestly say that it's just beautiful. Pleasant, non-offensive, non-headache inducing, on the lighter side, fresh and clean! Yes, it does indeed have a shampoo-like quality but that's one of the things that I love so much about it because they've done it so well here. It does not smell cheap or dated, to the contrary, it smells like the most expensive, luxurious, creamy shampoo that you've ever had the pleasure of smelling. It smells like pure class, modern, light-hearted and playful. A younger person, a middle aged person or an older person could easily pull this off. Suited for all!

Generic? Maybe, but in the absolute best way possible! Perfect for those days when you can't make up your mind on what to grab for. A sure-fire crowd pleaser! I find it to be a comforting scent and the deeper I get into the day, the more I enjoy catching whiffs of it. Office friendly and seems to be more of a daytime perfume but I wear whatever I like, whenever I like, to wherever I like. I never follow follow any rules!

Needless to say, I love it. The day after the first time I wore it, I ordered myself a full bottle.

Don't let reviews rule your fragrance choices. Search out samples or decants and try them for yourself. That's the only way that you're ever going to really know for sure if it's a "yes please" or a "no thank-you."

The Perfume of the Future is the Perfume of Today.....
Imagine if Versace's Dylan Blue pour femme arrived at the beauty counters of the 1950's? It would be the smartphone to their rotary phone, the Velcro to their metal hook and eye closures, the plastic to their Bakelite. That world was not yet ready. This is a perfume of THE FUTURE. Rocket ships in space meant those of our day living on the moon or mars. We aren't doing that, but we are doing the next closest thing, and that is wearing Versace's Dylan Blue pour femme. Like nothing that came before it, a time traveling person could stand out by this scent alone if joining a vintage crowd.

This is an accelerated elixir involving not one but THREE super modern synthetics: Shisolia®, Rosyfolia® and Petalia®, while refreshing fruits such as apple and black currant provide familiarity. To my nose, the currant takes center stage and grants a mostly blackberry aroma to this otherwise aquatic floral grounded in slightly musky space dust. An orchard planted in the synthesized soil of a space colony, surrounded by a sparkling moat of ozonated water.

The opening is the best part, followed by a musky synthetic dry down. It fades within the hour into an obscure shadow of itself. My urge is to revive it with a citrus, which satisfies. I recommend reviving/combining this one with anything that features Mandarin as a primary note.

Dylan Blue synthetic amphora
First, if you love this fragrance, feel free to skip my review. It is not going to be very positive I am afraid.... Otherwise, please read it with a grain of salt as perfume likes are extremely subjective. This is one of those perfumes that I personally really dislike. To the point of having an allergic reaction of when my body is literally feeling sick and is rejecting this scent. I had to take a shower and later use alcohol to rub it off completely. After having a glance at the ingredients I understand why I disliked it this much. I think the ingredients must be very synthetic, something very dangerously chemical is going on here and I am very sensitive to that. So, at first I even kind of liked the opening and smelled the green apple and something very comforting amber like, honey like. I was thinking why didn’t I give it more of a try before? The answer followed: the dry down. It turned into a very strong simple laundry detergent kind of scent. And it was simply highly irritating to me and offensive even. I can compare it to Amazing Grace kind of fragrance, but Amazing Grace is so much better and less synthetic for sure. The bottle looks like an Ancient Greek amphora with Versace logo on it. I like the bottle a lot, but the scent does not match the vibe at all. Also not sure what does the name refer to? Hope not to the musician because then it’s even more confusing. It must be pointing to the significance of the blue color. All in all, hope they keep the bottle and come up with a very different flanker for it, hopefully less synthetic and generic. I mean if you like those kind of clean fresh laundry kind of scents and don’t have allergies to very chemical perfumery, then you will probably most likely love it. But I could think of so many better fresh and clean perfumes that are soft and more close to the skin than this one.

Sticky, jammy, soapy
I love this smell on a tester strip: all the notes blend together to create a feminine-but-not-girly delicious shot of floral fruity goodness. If it smelled like that on me, I would enjoy it. Unfortunately, blackcurrant has a way of ruining almost any fragrance that interacts with my skin, turning it jammy. I wish I got more of the Granny Smith and peach notes, but they're buried deep under that sticky blackcurrant. I'm also getting some soapiness, especially in the dry down. It's not for me.

An undefined fruity-synthetic light fragrance in a luxuous but kitsch bottle which doesn't justify the high price. Nothing special.

A tart, juicy, fruity Granny Smith scent that unfortunately fades into a muddled plasticky, cheap synthetic mess. Could've been beautiful.
