My scent round up: Roses

When I first started on my scent journey, I used to hate roses. I equated roses with old-fashioned, peppery scents that either screamed rose essential oil or an overly heavy, oud base that just felt too serious and mature. Once in a while, I still run in to that rose I abhor, aka Portrait of a Lady. But over the years, I've also found roses that I love, so I had to reevaluate my opinion on the flower.

Hi @Raluko111, i see we've very similar taste for some type of parfumes!
Rose is one of the flower i really love and had so many different type of parfume with this note.
here the best roses for me ( i won't write the same you alredy written like tabac rose):

Wow, thanks for this, @Silverrr! It`s always really nice to meet likeminded fragheads. I love Halfeti and just got the discovery set for Jeroboam, so moving that rose to the top of my list. Looking forward to going on the hunt for these scents!

Great article, I'm completely with you @Raluko111 - I used to think I hated rose notes, too!
But like you, it turned out I just needed to test more of them.
I enjoy seeing how you categorize them - do you have a top pick from each category?
I really love Whipped Rose & Vanilla by Bath & Body Works. To me it's a candied rose with a dusting of powdered sugar - almost like biting into a slice of rose-flavored Turkish delight.

Oooo, love me some Turkish delight, @Gourmandgrl ! My favorite Turkish delight is Guerlain's Rose Centifolia Extrait 1 (tastes like Istanbul Peninsula Hotel lokum plus sweet fresh blood).
If I had to choose my top picks:

@Raluko111 brilliant groups of lists of rose fragrances. But I feel like a peasant I have not tried any of your listed perfumes. Rosa novella sounds like me though. There are jammy roses ,sweet, persistent, a bit heavy like Damask rose, Turkish rose, Bulgarian rose and there is May rose of Grass a category on its own, and wild rose a jind of smaller ,white, greener rose I love very much ,but don't find it often. The rose fragrance I adore is Cartier Declaration d'un soir! And the fragrance I hate is Portrait of a lady Frederick Maille

Thanks @Tzapan. I have to try Cartier's Declaration (added to my Watch List). The most beautiful roses I've ever smelled were in a little Hungarian-Romanian village, where the old ladies were growing them for ages and ages. I've never smelled anything like it anywhere else.

Francesca Bianchi's Angel's Dust is a sweet irisy rose. Sexy, playful, a little retro.
Bortnikoff's Triad is a gorgeous rose oud. A little challenging but worth trying on skin.
