Is it a replacement for Layton, or it is not ?
I am still asking myself, why has Hugo Boss / COTY discontinued Boss Bottled Intense which was apparently the better "Layton"?

Parfums de Marly have watered down the mentioned scent so much that it does not make any reasonable sense to buy a bottle anymore, and Detour Noir has the ugliest bottle in the world .. what does it remain as a choice: I ?

I has a silly name, and maybe it´s just me, but you cant name a scent which you wish to have a hit with with, a hard to find / google / search name.
I have a few samples and I tried it several times and the initial spray is very close to Layton, but then evolves quite nice into an independent scent.

Julien Rasquinet is the nose behind the scent so definitely we do not speak about a simple copy paste, but a complex scent from a house which also has the Jusbox brand under its umbrella.

I ordered a bottle, because it happened with Boss Bottled Intense too .. when Notino had a huge stock and it was with 40€ in offer, I said : nah, Layton cannot be replaced ..

It can.

Houbigant - welcome back
After smelling Fougere Royale for the first time, I realized that Houbigant is not your typical perfume house.

The class and beautiful complexity of the scents, leaves you wanting more.
More is what they have come up with, Ambre des Abysses is absolutely stunning and Tabac Nomade, is a spicy, sweet, aromatic type of scent which you can only experience with Tobacolor from DIOR and nothing else.

I got a sample from Jovoy to try them and I am very impressed, this will last long and also will garner you a bunch of compliments. Enjoy the video :) Merci !

A good one for Shiseido
I am a big fan of Chergui and Ambre Sultan and when SL launched a new scent (in 2023) I was very thrilled to try it.

Now I got a sample and I must say that what Serge Lutens does well, it is a dark, bold and spicy scent .. which here we can enjoy in full. I do smell similarities with other scents, but overall it does smell natural and unique.

It is not very versatile, but you can be sure that nobody will smell the same on a 200km/miles radius.
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did recording it, merci!

Too sweet for me
It is a nice, sweet scent and you can do no wrong wearing this one. If you like thick, syrupy scents, this one will be a good addition to your collection. The price is great and does not feel like a clone.

My take on this scent:
- I have tried this in a shop and I was overwhelmed by how sickly sweet was, I even considered it a bad release.
- It has based on color and the cola note, a similarity to ROJA Enigma, but is it really so? Let´s find out.
- Mancera is launching very nice, easy to like scents and priced correctly. Is this also a good alternative to the ROJA Enigma like many people say, not for my nose. I find it almos diabetes inducing sweet and sickly, not a scent I would like to wear all day.
- From this tiny sample I cannot get the full experience, but according to my second thoughts, I think this one is: …

Reminds me? Dr. Pepper fizzy drink.
H/S: Very good performance, it lasted beyond 8 hours on the clothes.
Versatility: Wherever Enigma ROJA would go, this can follow.
Seasons: It will shine in the colder months.

Not too bad, I must say
So, one can wonder how is it that a big luxury house like Hermès is not making any waves into the perfume industry.

They are consistent, traditional I might say and even going a bit on the safe side .. far away from the creativity of Amouage during the Christopher Chong´s times.

I do have big favorites from them like Terre d´Hermes EDT / Eau Tres Fraiche & Equipage.

Since Master Ellena decided to part ways in 2016 with the brand, for reasons I do not fully understand, there is a new "Nose" Inhouse perfumer called: Christine Nagel.

Up to now, I was not very impressed by any of her work, which was either too green or too safe for my taste. But since Oud Alezan got released, a beautiful mix of oud rose à la POAL or Ombre Nomade, I got curious about her new creative ways.

And this brings us to the "Herbes Vives" which is an awesome green, fresh scent with an ingredient from MANE called "Physcool®":

"It has been over 20 years since MANE patented its Physcool®, a molecule recognised for its significant long-lasting cooling effect."

For me, this smells like a fresh, raw & green fig, combined with fresh cut grass and a fruity sorbet of pears.
The combination is very fortunate and I enjoy smelling this quite a lot, for a new Hermès. Might this be the start of a new winning series from the brand? We will see.

This lasts a long time, it is fresh, masculine and does not smell like a copy paste of something else or the eternal sage with bergamot "à la" Rabanne, Armani or YSL.

Tres bien, madame Nagel !
