Sad farewell
i discovered this fragrance in 2007 and was blown away. Anyone who knows it knows what I'm talking about: this soapiness, this luxury hotel vibe, this freshness and this warmth at the same time...

it was my absolute favorite for 15 years. In the meantime, I've gotten to know and love hundreds and hundreds of fragrances. Spent tons of money on niche fragrances. I loved some of them dearly, but after a while they too were replaced by other fragrances.

My Prada Amber had its very special place, which no one could dispute.

I was horrified to discover in 2021/2022 that it was no longer available. I looked for alternatives, but it was all in vain.

Summer 2022: I'm in Madrid and find it by chance in a perfumery. I can't believe it. Is this perhaps just another old one? The tester smells exactly the same as my sample at home. I buy 100 ml, but check the batch code beforehand: produced 6 months ago! Wow, I can't believe it, it wasn't discontinued after all. Probably just an interruption in supply, as happens from time to time, such as with "Armani Privé - Bleu Turquoise | Giorgio Armani".

Back home, I discover it again in a perfumery and buy another 100 ml. I order another 100 ml online. Three large bottles as a backup, which will last me for a long time. I am happy.

I take out my old copy of "Amber pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Prada" again and enjoy it so much - knowing that I have three backups. I no longer only wear it on special occasions, but also in everyday life. Yes, I even spray it in the air just to enjoy the scent.

The old bottle is coming to an end and I open one of my three backups. Strange, the color is more grayish than blue-violet. I spray into the air. Once more. And once more. I can't believe it. I spray on a strip of paper: The scent is no longer the same!!!!! I open another backup - the same again!

Since L'Oréal took over Prada, the fragrance no longer smells the same. Whether or not it's due to Lilial, which has since been banned...
The fragrance that I have loved so dearly over the years and to which so many memories are attached is PITY it no longer exists.
What can I say?
Everything has an end.

PS: The rating refers to the old version.

The summer fragrance par excellence for those who don't like citrus scents or run-of-the-mill summer fragrances
Summer fragrances are such a topic for me. Most of them contain citric notes, and unfortunately I don't like them at all. They seem too artificial, too reminiscent of cleaning products.

And the rest of the summer fragrances: they often smell too cheap for me personally. Like a synthetic drugstore concoction.

How glad I am that Yaringa does NOT smell like any of that!!!

Maritime salt including seaweed form the base with a summery coconut. Then there is passion fruit, which gives the fragrance a fruitiness that thankfully does not come across as cheap at all. You can hardly smell thyme directly, but you do notice a very fitting light spiciness.

A yacht, cocktails with coconut and passion fruit, a light spiciness in the air and lots and lots of money. That's what the fragrance smells like to me.

The spray is first class. About the same as Thameen. Sillage and durability great! Also appropriate for the price.

Opposites attract
Admittedly: When I smelled the fragrance for the first time, I found something - probably the rose geranium - a little too pungent, too aggressive. Nevertheless, I found the fragrance exciting. I decided to spray it on my wrist and take it for a walk. This slightly pungent scent, which put me off at first, turned out to be the pinch of salt that makes this fragrance so wonderful. The more I sniffed my wrist, the more I liked it.

I perceive rose, lots of rose geranium, sandalwood and sweet vanilla.

Do you know what a redcurrant meringue pie tastes like? The overly sour redcurrant paired with the overly sweet meringue is the ultimate combination (for me). I also notice this interplay in Dolci Pensieri:
The vanilla alone would probably be too sweet for many. The rose geranium and sandalwood are probably too sour, too pungent for many. In combination, they are simply addictive and harmonize perfectly.

Perfume and nature - no contradiction
A beautiful, gentle fragrance. Slightly sweet, slightly powdery, gently resinous and fresh. Minimally green - in the best possible form. When I wear this fragrance, I have the feeling that it could also be an essential oil from a romanticized enchanted forest. An absolute all-time favorite. I often wear it to the doctor, on long car journeys etc., in other words whenever I want to smell good but don't want to run the risk of looking too perfumed or annoying 'perfume haters'.
