Lovely vanilla floral with depth and nuance

Sampling latest release from Profumum Roma, Dolci Pensieri (“sweet thoughts” in English), a sweet, powdery, floral blend that, at least to my nose, has a bit of a fruity, resinous side to it as well. The only listed notes are Bulgarian rose, geranium, peony, sandalwood, and vanilla, and most of that rings true: a floral blend with rose that has some sweetness of the vanilla and the slightly sharp, woody side of the sandalwood. Still, I get a bit of fruit (a red berry of some kind, perhaps) and a certain sort of creamy, honeyed hint of resin (beeswax- or benzoin-ish) that makes the blend seem a bit more complex that just a floral/vanilla blend, mainly. This does not come as a huge surprise, as Profumum’s note listings are often brief but their scents are generally rich, natural-smelling, high-performing, and sometimes, complex.

Even though it leans a bit more powdery (and it’s really not *that* powdery) than rose/vanilla blends I usually go for, Dolci Pensieri is really well-executed, with high quality, reaffirming the confidence I have in the brand. I’m going to be happy to try it out some more but would give it fairly high marks to start.

Dolci Pensieri is sold in the US via a couple of websites that I’ve found—namely, the NYC boutique Osswald as well as Beauty Habit, a website I’m somewhat familiar with but have not used, myself—both with the now-standard Profumum pricing of $275 for 100ml.

Finally i recieved my all time favorite brands “Dolci pencieri” in English sweet thoughts.

Well this is a bottle full of sweetness
and flowers at the beginning vanilla hits your nose (as always with this literally perfect brand) then later it gets more creamy mix with roses really good one. Then later the drydown get more rose and vanilla.
Strong sillage and good longevity.

A great unisex perfume for all kind of occasions, party, work, chill night.

Reminds me of MFK’s Oud satin mood which is olso one of my favorites.

Candied Flowers

Someone saw a field of flowers and lightly dusted them in powder sugar. Its the edible flower used to decorate the cupcake at a high class tea party. This is a light, slightly sweet, floral fragrance that is gentle but not weak. My only complain is that the floral notes kinda blend together, none of them really stand out.

This projected like crazy, my co-worker across the room complimented me and asked what the scent profile is. It has great longevity too, it lasted about 6 hours on my skin. A 100ml will cost you €275 and a 10ml is €115.

Makes people say "you smell so nice" when I hug them

One of those fragrances that makes me smile when I catch a whiff of myself. Makes me feel beautiful, natural, calm, capable.

On opening, I get the gently sweet, spicy rose blooming and blooming and blooming. Sillage is huge, at least on me, at the beginning, but mellows down within an hour or so. I can smell the undercurrents of vanilla and sandalwood even at the start, but it's mostly rose rose rose.

It mellows after a little bit, and then everything melds together nicely. The heavy burst of rose balances more with the sandalwood, and the peony puts a little freshness in. After a couple hours, it's calmed down to a very low projection and just a nice, calm, gently warm well-rounded scent. I frequently get told I smell pretty when I wear this.

Also I really need to someday get a full bottle of some Profumum Roma fragrance because I'm obsessed with their bottles. So simple but so pretty. Like slabs of amber. Love them.

Dolce Vita with Sweet Thoughts...

From the sharing of a dear perfumista, I managed to get a large decant of Dolci Pensieri and have extensively tested the fragrance over the past few days. And every day I like it more...

The name of the fragrance means "sweet thoughts," and I think it fits perfectly. When you Google the name, you find numerous patisseries...

While the opening comes across as quite vintage and doesn't spark any enthusiasm in me, the fragrance develops throughout the day into a very pleasant companion. I see myself strolling through a rose garden on a sunny autumn day; the table is already set with sweet treats. By the roses, I think more of wild and natural roses, not of highly cultivated cut flowers. Like a café overgrown with wild roses, for example, and in front of it, waiting in the sun are espresso and cantuccini.

My untrained nose doesn't detect peonies and rose geraniums, but the not-too-sweet vanilla provides the pastry feeling. And there’s something warm and woody in the background, probably the sandalwood. Overall, the fragrance feels soft, warm, and just the right amount of sweet to me. The rose is strong but integrated and not dominant. This keeps the fragrance bright and reminds me again and again of sunlight. The yellow color of the fragrance fits perfectly with that. For me, it is therefore a daytime scent and not an evening one.

Typical for Profumum Roma, the fragrance is very oily; you can see the high concentration of fragrance oils on the skin. It lasts from morning to evening; and even the next morning, I still catch a delicate hint on my skin. But it’s not a powerhouse like, for example, Confetto. The first hour, the scent cloud is already enormous; after that, fortunately, it can only be perceived at arm's length. This makes it suitable for many occasions. But best for sunny autumn walks through the colorful forest of leaves. Or for coffee and cake on a sunny terrace. I can also imagine it well in spring. For cold winter days, there are more suitable scents, even from Profumum Roma. And in summer, I don’t see it at all.

Even for Profumum Roma standards, the fragrance is expensive; 100ml costs 265 EUR on the website. As with many fragrances, there is also a travel bottle with 18ml for 89 EUR.

My conclusion is already in the headline - this fragrance is suited for a day when you indulge yourself, enjoy the sun, nature, and good food, and meet friends - Dolce Vita indeed. Whether it can sweeten a stressful workday, I still need to try out... ;-)
