easy going
Very non controversial, airy, honeyed scent. Sits very close to the skin and on me doesn't last long at all. Worth sampling. You will have a hard time finding anyone who hates this, which may suggest that it plays it a bit too safe for folks who want to wear something with a more distinct personality.
perfectly fine.
I swear there was a bubble bath I smelled in the 80's that smelled a lot like this. It's not bad at all. I just think if you are into complex scents that are not universally easy to pull off, you might never reach for this one. People around you will like it, but it's not terribly interesting for the wearer. If you have a small collection that needs a decent freshie that nobody else is wearing, this is a good choice. Get this instead of Savage, Bleu de Chanel, or whatever they are pushing at the perfume counter that will make you smell like one million high schoolers and ex boyfriends.
refined, classy.
Guerlain Vetiver was a fragrance I had my eye on for a long long time. I finally smelled it for the first time in Mexico at a really nice mall with a huge fragrance section. My father in law bought me a 5oz bottle and it's one of the best gifts I've ever received. It took a few wearings to really understand and fully appreciate. I get the nutmeg and tobacco more now. At first it came off smelling like a skin lotion, or something that would heal a burn. It's kind of a serious scent and very much for an adult in my opinion, but I don't smell this on anyone, and in a world of loud, sweet, soft, spicy, powdery, uninspired offerings for men, this work of art stands out even more. I love the new bottle shape too.
I wanted to love this
I bought a mini bottle thankfully. On me it was a bit old lady-like with the jasmine and kumquat taking center stage. I just didn’t love those notes in this. I also didn’t get any stone to my nose. That’s fine though, my son loved it. I gave it to him. Un Jardin Sur Le Toit is the only other one I’ve smelled in the collection and I’m in love with it.
You gotta smell this in person
First of all, I'm glad that this one doesn't smell like hyper realistic orange peel or something. I want my perfume to smell like an artistic interpretation of something along those lines. A piece of olfactory art inspired by something, that has its own character. This is that. It's a sophisticated, unique scent, that I've never smelled on anyone anywhere. I love green fragrances and I'm getting more into French perfumery lately. Something about this one reminds me a bit of Chypre Mousse by Oriza Legrand, if it went for a walk in an orchard. I like it on fabric more than on skin. On skin it's more on the orange peel side, on fabric it reminds me a little of the smell of makeup. Really glad to own this one.
