Scandelaria

I still remember it very clearly. I was just fifteen years old and used to go to the drugstore section of Rossmann or HIT next to the school every day before school and take turns applying one of those cheap fragrances. Then one day the Adidas Fresh Impact. I immediately noticed that something was different about this fragrance. This citrusy aquatic and almost cucumber-like freshness captivated me that school day until the end of the day. I realized that I had to own it myself. I organized some pocket money and walked to a local Rossmann, where I found the fragrance at an excellent price of around 15 euros for 100 ml. Once I had bought it, I was the proud owner of my first fragrance and was head over heels in love with it. I still had something that I would wish back today, namely satisfaction. I had no desire for variety, nor did I feel bored the longer I wore the fragrance. Its sporty, masculine fresh-showered aura surrounded and captivated me, and I was obsessed. I took it with me in my pants and sprayed it on from time to time until my obsession reached its unfortunate peak. During the Whitsun vacation, I gave private math lessons. A classmate I was tutoring was my crush and I naturally went to great lengths throughout the school year to attract her attention. And so did my smell. There is almost no better compliment for a man than that he smells good. And so I sprayed myself excessively before the lesson. My shirt was literally wet with the scent and I couldn't stop myself. I couldn't stop myself and even sprayed it on again while she went to get a glass of water or go to the toilet. So she came back and we continued with the tutoring, and suddenly my perfume falls out of my pants pocket onto the floor where our butts once sat on top of it on an uncomfortable wooden chair. The bottle slides into one corner under the table, the lid into the other. Oh man, PEINLICH! Now you've really revealed the mysterious secret weapon you've been working on this girl with for days. I think it's stressful situations like this that people talk about as justification for starting to smoke. However, I immediately forgot about that embarrassing moment when I saw her smile in response to my clumsiness.

Fragrances are like hard drives or keys to hard drives. As soon as you smell them, old memories come flooding back in incredible detail.

Vormittel, in the middle of the week. I work in a supermarket branch. It is early and accordingly moderately busy. Most of my colleagues are still goods at the verräumen. The boss of my boss walks into the store. Brown leather jacket, gray wool sweater, black slim jeans and chelsea boots. He goes into the stockroom and chats with my boss and his subordinate there .... for a minute or two. They both leave the warehouse and continue their conversation in the office. I continue to tidy up so that we can soon begin our breaks. Half an hour passes and I notice a pack of slice cheese completely warmed and by now melted into a block, which a customer probably put on an unrefrigerated shelf the day before (have respect from the food, unfortunately this happens far too often) and brought it directly to our warehouse where we store spoiled.

The camp measures about 15 meters in width and 130 meters in length. The ceilings would have to be about 6-7 meters high. So 15 x 130 x 7, that's a maximum of about 13 - 14,000 cubic feet of air volume that this warehouse gives off with all its own smells of expired, etc. So I come into this warehouse, which has been abandoned for 30 minutes, and I am struck by a sweet spicy woody and delicious cloud of scent that I could not have created by immediately spraying my 50 scents completely empty. Nowhere in this warehouse was safe. The smell was too present, so I would have believed if the man had been standing behind me.

An experience that I have never had before and that I will remember all my life.
