The darker version of the master piece!
Amouage, a house I hold high, stil... It is the second niche house I tried about 14 years a go when I started my fragrance journey, and Reflection Man was the first I tried from the house. Now, many years later, they released a more concentrated "45" version of Reflection Man.

The original Reflection Man was, and still is, amazing. It is easy to wear and loved by many, also outside this community (yes, often there is a difference here). Even though I still love Reflection Man, I stopped wearing it for a few years now. With the new Extrait, I started wearing this DNA again, and I love it!

I find myself reaching for the Extrait more than I would expect, mostly for colder months and spring evenings. It is such an easy grab and I think this is the reason for that.

Compared to the original, there are many similarities; it shares the scent character for a big part, but there is also a noticable difference. This version, as you may expect, is indeed deeper and darker.

I do believe that this is a great flanker and a beautiful addition to the original. And to me, it is an additional and everyone asking within the community I would say the same. For folks outside the community I would recommend choosing one from both as they wouldn't detect enough difference compared to one which is into this game! Where the OG is more versatile, I tend to reserve the Extrait mainly for evenings.

The performance of the OG is good (yes, it was better), and this Extrait is even better. Maybe even too good... It lasts easily all day all night.

All in all, Reflection 45 is beautiful. A darker more intense version of the master piece Reflection Man. I enjoy it.

A unique freshy
This is one of my favorites fresh fragrances of all time, because it has that combination I'm in love with; creaminess and freshness.
Like almost all Clive Christian fragrances, there is a certain level of class to the scent. Many refer to a Mojito vibe, which I agree on, but the level of the Mojito vibe is less than let's say Creed's Virgin Island Water.

Absolute stunner from the brand again and love to wear this for almost all occasions!

The underrated (still though?!)
As is the case with many new releases from popular brands, the community often start with negativity. So happened with Aventus Cologne too.
Now, that we passed a few years many see the added value, or the true power of this fragrance.

With Cologne in the name many may think that this is a thin (cologne) version of the original, but no that is not the case. This is an EdP concentrated (like the Original) fragrance which does not have any "cologne style" vibes but the name here probably refers to a style of scent that is more airy and fresh. This because some ticker elements of the original are replaced. The vanilla in the original, and the smokiness are not here or at least a lot toned down. The fruitiness of the original is present in the Cologne as well, but I feel that the fruit selection in the Cologne is of a fresher variant. Where the original is Pineapple based (its signature), the main player here is Oranges.

With many already suggesting that; the smell of Aventus Cologne feels like a combination of the original and Chanel's Allure Homme Sport, both gorgeous fragrances and in this fragrance combined beautifully.

I tend to grab Aventus Cologne more often as I feel it is more versatile. It has sporty elements but also classy elements, and suits every type of weather. Performance is above average for me, with at least 7 hours.

Aventus Cologne is a great addition to the Creed line up, and I think after those years many would agree!

Class and sexiness in a bottle
What a fragrance this is...

So underrated, but one of the very few I would give a 10 out of 10, because of multiple reasons. First, the house of Houbigant is a well-respected house which is here for ages and brings out quality scents only. Ambre des Abysses is no different. Second, this is a fragrance which has it all; sexiness, class and elegance, good performance and the airiness I'm looking for. Hate those candy-sweet fragrances and this is not one of them. Third, with EUR 175 (as of Jan 1, 2025) for 100ml it is good priced for a niche fragrance like this.

This fragrance is often compared to JPG's Le Male and Amouage's Reflection Man (which is compared to JPG's Le Male as well). I do see the similarities but do not believe that any of these are that close to each other that it would be redundant to own all. Compared to the other two, Ambre des Abysses is more refined, more gentlemanly and more airy, without compromising on performance. It has a airy, warm, slightly sweet and floral scent DNA which can be worn almost all year and to most occasions. I would only skip this for the hot summer days.

Thank you Houbigant for this gorgeous fragrance!

Classic done in a modern way
Tried this first in its old bottle style, when it was called "Le Frenchy". To me that version is the same as the current "Frenchy Lavande". This fragrance is a big love for me. If I have to describe it in a few words I would say: Lemon Verbena heavy with a good dose of Lavender giving a classic citrussy masculine vibe with some creaminess. Even though the style is classic masculine, I think women can wear this too.

Performance is quite good for this kind of DNA. I get a full office day of wear.

Quite expensive in its current form and this DNA can be found much cheaper. That said, to me this is the best execution of this DNA.
