Timeless legend
Yep, he's got it.
I can't help it - this fragrance gets 10 points.
Maybe it's not the fragrance I wear most often and maybe it's not my favorite.
But the reason why I'm still giving it full marks - I'm probably doing this for the first time - is because it's a timeless legend.

The strong character of the vetiver is perfectly showcased here.
The fragrance is very elegant, herbaceous-green and natural.
In the 1950s, the art of perfumery was certainly not as advanced as it is today in terms of the selection of different notes.
However, the limited selection - compared to the past - does not detract from the fragrance.
Instead, it brings out the best, without restriction.
The focus here is on naturalness and the true art of perfumery.

Jean-Paul Guerlain, the perfumer behind the fragrance, grandson of the famous Jaques Guerlain, was 22 years old at the time of its release. This fragrance was to become the signature of the brand.
He worked his way from the bottom to the top of the family business.
From bottle washer to master perfumer.
He says of himself that he already had an extraordinary olfactory memory as a child.
He liked to cite a certain penchant for romance and a certain understanding of culture as the cornerstones of a successful perfumer.

The fragrance "Vetiver (Eau de Toilette) | Guerlain" is masculine, distinguished, elegant.
Everything here revolves around vetiver.
The other notes are primarily there to perfectly showcase the main character.
Just like an artist whose flower has a completely different effect on a darker background than on a white sheet of paper.
Jean-Paul uses a hint of nutmeg and black pepper to achieve the desired effect and create the right contrast.
The tobacco and tonka bean with a gentle sweetness prepare the bed and complement the vetiver, giving it a little more power and depth.
The sparkling notes of bergamot, lemon and orange open the fragrance, but are also more active in the background at the beginning.

10/10, I only award this in absolutely exceptional cases.
"Vetiver (Eau de Toilette) | Guerlain" is a milestone in perfume history.
A timeless legend.

My favorite close-up fragrance for sports
Mefisto is an unobtrusive, fresh and citrusy fragrance that I like to wear for sports - when I am intruding on other people's privacy, for example when playing contact sports in a club.
You may be familiar with this...
You spray on a strong fragrance that you really like, but feel uncomfortable when you are in close physical proximity to people - the airplane also comes to mind.
In such a case, I like to wear Mefisto.

In contrast to its brother "Casamorati - Mefisto Gentiluomo | XerJoff", which for me is a typical clean man's fragrance - soapy, fresh and clean - this one is much more citrusy and simply goes in a completely different direction in terms of character.
Its brother "Casamorati - Mefisto Gentiluomo | XerJoff" is somewhat inconspicuous. They are both pleasant and unobtrusive, although the "Casamorati - Mefisto | XerJoff" is much more expressive for me. In addition to the soapiness, the "Casamorati - Mefisto Gentiluomo | XerJoff" has a slight sweetness and a hint of coconut.

"Casamorati - Mefisto | XerJoff" is a well-balanced work of art that has a secure place in my selected collection.
Mefisto creates one thing:
It combines gentle accents to create a balanced atmosphere.
A hint of metallic notes with a perfect citrus accord on a solid woody base, where the sandalwood is present but dialed down so much that it merely serves as a connector of the accords and bed of notes.
The soft, barely perceptible rose would only be conspicuous by its absence, playing the role of the cherry on top of the cream cake.
As microdosed as it may be, it is just as hard to imagine the perfume without it.

"Casamorati - Mefisto | XerJoff" , my favorite sporty and close-up fragrance.

Christmas flair to spray on
Associations:
wintry, wooden hut, open fire, cuddly soft, turtleneck sweater, gentleman, cognac, apple-cinnamon, boozy

Alexandria Fragrances in top form. A dupe brand that once again impresses with its quality.

The opening is really boozy, not just sweet. The cognac is clearly recognizable.
And although the cognac is recognizable, it is by no means pungent or overly alcoholic - in other words - you don't smell like a liquor store.
In other words - despite the boozy note, the police will not carry out a breathalyzer test.
On with the other facets in the opening:
Lightly fry the apple, cinnamon and almonds in a pan, capture the aroma and mix with the cognac booz.
"I sometimes think of grandma's warm apple pie, the apples have a slight acidity, which makes the fragrance more lively and gives it contour, maybe that's one reason why I like it better than the 0815 sweet fragrance"
The notes are very well balanced and finely tuned to each other.

The longevity and power are flawless. It is present and in no way intrusive.
It is a fragrance that provides warmth and security.
Definitely a cuddly fragrance. A fragrance of closeness.
For a date? Perfect.

The course is unspectacular.
But it doesn't need it, that's not what sets it apart.

The composition holds its own before it loses its spirit, the contours melt away and the foundation of sweet, slightly woody vanilla remains.
