Seductive Seasonal Sweetness
Here's a fragrance that COMPLETELY lives up to it's name. No frills about it. When you hear the name "Sugarful," you'd expect/picture exactly what's in this bottle: a pure, simple, sparkling sugar-rush. That's exactly what you get.

What I didnt expect was a scent that I'd absolutely fall in love with! I have tested many, MANY works from Michel Germain over the years, and I'd be hard-pressed to remember one that I really liked in their men's catalogue. Some I've actually kind of detested. Germain has been much more successful with his Female offerings however, and luckily "Sugarful pour Homme" follows suit!

The juice is sugar-sweet, sexy and masculine. Maple syrup gives it a manly, earthy, candy accord in what is brilliant, attractive perfumery. What makes this so sexy is the grapefruit, which waffs a sweaty skin-like radiance in line with the sugar. This blend makes for an alluring date night scent and fits any occasion where enrapturing female attention is the disired effect.

I also see this being great for holidays and special events, especially during the fall and winter months. It's just so cozy and downright likable, and excels at encapsulating a festive spirit.

Performance on this one is solid (not always the case with Michel Germain). Be liberal with your sprays and I can see this one lasting and garnering compliments for an entire night out. It's a linear scent, so just reapply when you see fit. You'll be glad he's there as a plus one!

On top of being SUPER affordable, Michel Germain's "Sugarful pour Homme" is just the best kind of left-field surprise:

A non-hyped gem from a (to date) unreliable house that can be wholeheartedly recommended to ANYONE. It's a new favorite.

This might be the droid you are looking for!
People really seem to hate the original PHANTOM by Paco Rabanne. By association I bet they'll hate the new Parfum version too. That would be a shame because despite the (allegedly horrid) robot-tle, this is a much different scent profile. A stronger, sweeter, woodier, richer beast of a fragrance.

One caviat stands in the way of a pretty brilliant and highly addicting scent however, and that is Carolina Herrera's BAD BOY. "Bad Boy" is another divisive frag in the community, and it is one I actually love. It's a unique scent and a personal compliment monster. Unfortunately PHANTOM PARFUM is so reminiscent at times to Carolina's top-seller as to nearly be deemed redundant to the uninitiated.

Where PHANTOM PARFUM separates itself from House Herrera is the performance. This juice has real staying power (8-10 hours) and out performs Bad Boy in every regard. It's impressive sillage has already become the talk of my workplace! Also, Bad Boy's more peppery, airey scent burst has been refined with creamier, smoother woods/ vetiver/ vanilla. The rhubarb off the top is just addicting.

This is a quality release from Paco Rabanne. Worth a blind-buy even... for those who are fans of the House and those that do not already own the EDT version of BAD BOY.

Even BAD BOY lovers may want to check out this one for it's stellar performance and (in my opinion) superior smell.

The bottle is really cool too! There. I said it.

Perplexing Water
As a connoisseur of sorts to all thing's Davidoff (I've loved/ liked pretty much every release in the Cool Water lineage), I find the release of this Oceanic Edition very confusing, and rather disappointing.

The BEAUTIFUL box art for this release captures a mood and a scent profile within itself. A high-caliber, salty, sea breeze-fresh gem is what I was hoping for. The actual juice is another story.

The opening on this bad boy is FUNKY! I mean... off putting and kind of gross. The aquatic notes and freshness are evident, but there's a bitter, body-odor mustiness that is very evident (to me atleast). I almost had to wash it off my skin. That's how much I wasn't feeling it.

In the air, this detriment doesn't seem to be as evident as it is close to the source. After a fairly lengthy drydown for this kinda thing (30 minutes - 1 hour), Oceanic Edition radiates a pretty decent, fresh, and yes; "oceanic" sillage. It also smells pretty natural and earthy. But, there is still a strange bitterness and unrefined tang to the scent, even in it's best moments.

When I get a new Cool Water fragrance, I'm usually concerned about performance, because the brand ALWAYS nails their approachable, unique, fresh profiles. That is till now!

Performance is pretty strong, but we are left with a very affordable product that disappoints off the jump, and only develops into a decent blue scent at best.

Unless you are a sucker for great packaging to go along with your fragrance releases, you can skip this one unless curiosity and the price win the day

The People's Choice Award
If you committ to wearing Versace's "Dylan Blue" (especially in the spring/ summer), get used to speaking it's name. "Blue... Dylan Blue" you may retort, if you're that too cool for school-type and in turn, too cool for this mainstream, inoffensive, and inexpensive fragrance. "It's Dylan Blue, by Versace" is personally what I'd say and what I have... a LOT!

The reason why I've become accustomed to name dropping this scent often (and you might too) is not because I'm on a soap-box part time, championing Versace's bottom line... nope: it's because this juice is simply ALLURING. Passers by and those in close proximity seem to be unable to ignore how pleasant it is, how clean it is, and how approachable it makes the wearer. If I ignore my own opinion and trust those of my most celebrated compliments, "so sexy" would be the synopsis. I'm guessing that's an ambroxan thing.

"Dylan Blue" is a fragrance that can be found everywhere. At drugstores, discounters, department stores (and in giftboxes), but it has never become overused by the public (Sauvage edt this ain't). You will smell wholly original and in complete control of your profile! Pretty amazing for a cheap, "entry level" blue freshie. Yes, that means I'd highly recommend this even to the connoisseurs out there! People will respond to this the way you THINK (wish) they would with "Cedrat Boise" or "Creed's Aventus."

As much as I like "Dylan Blue," it's not my favorite blue fragrance out there. I'm partial to "Bleu de Chanel Parfum" as my all-timer. For me, the best of the bunch. I absolutely LOVE Dolce's "Light Blue eau Intense" (both unisex-leaning Men's and Women's versions) and the recent flanker "Italian Love." On the darker side of aquatic, "Kenzo Homme eau de parfum (2022)" is an overlooked masterpiece that's quickly becoming one of my favorite fragrances full-stop. Finally, I have my nostalgic go-to's that still slap (Nautica Voyage, Davidoff Cool Water, Polo Blue and it's latest Parfum).

That's a lot of amazing options right there in what is a very crowded subgenre of perfumery. But as far as the compliments go, I've NEVER HAD MORE than I have with my perennial all-star, "Dylan Blue!" At the end of the day, fragrance to me is for myself but only partially. I crave a warn reception.

If there was an award for appeal, Versace would win.

Fragrance as Therapy
"Bleu de Chanel Parfum" is my signature scent; not even by choice. I simply have yet to come across another fragrance this unproblematic. It is appropriate for every occasion, every season. You can dress it up or down without thinking twice. It's classy, fresh, lux smelling aroma radiates Chanel affluence.

As someone who has dabbled in the original eau de toilette, and oversprayed the EDP for years, this Parfum is on a whole other level. The mass appealing, clean, spring-day citrus of the original two iterations is left in the wake of an even more elevated, aromatic freshness and a downright irresistible, grounded, earthy, woody base that I can best describe as addicting.

"Bleu de Chanel Parfum" is a compliment magnetic, and can be admired as THE premier blue fragrance as much as it can be a luxurious office scent, a sexy-date staple, and an expensive, everyday go-to. It's a beast of versatility, and near impossible to dislike.

For me, it has evolved beyond the intent and purpose of even my favorite fragrances. "BdCP" has a calming quality that I cannot quit. I use it's sublime blend to alter my mood and imbue color to my day. I'll spray a bit in the air when expecting company, put a few sprits on my pillow cases, apply it after showering, and even spray it in my clothing drawers.

I will always have a bottle of "Bleu de Chanel Parfum" close by and replenished. It's not just the best blue Fragrance I've ever worn. It's not just one of the most complimented frags in my collection...

To me it's therapy.
