Third attempt.
So, now for the third time I try to write a comment to this fragrance. I erased all the previous ones. Not because they were bad, but because they don't do justice to the scent.

As the appearance of the bottle suggests, it is more suitable for summer. For those days when you go to a lake or an outdoor pool because it's just too hot for anything else. On holiday in the Caribbean, on Bora Bora or the Maldives it also fits. I've never been there before, but you know what I mean. What I want to illustrate with this is this carefree attitude that you have on days when you simply don't think about anything and enjoy the beautiful weather and the free time. This is exactly what this fragrance embodies for me.

If I had to describe it with one word, it would be "pleasant", but in this case it is much too expressionless for such a fragrance. It's hard to describe how cuddly it smells, so you want to sniff it all the time without it sounding boring.
The interplay of lemon, which has an aquatic touch, with this easily perceived salty note and later with a minimal woody finish, makes it perfect. Anyway, if you're just evaluating the smell. A very high statement to call something perfect, but here it fits. At least from my point of view. One of those scents you just can't get enough of, maybe because of its volatility.

On the subject of ephemerality. Unfortunately there is a big disadvantage and that is in this case the durability and sillage. The shelf life is not so bad if you really look at how long you can notice it on your skin. However, the Sillage becomes weak after relatively short time. On my skin it weakens already after 20 minutes.
This throws the fragrance out of the race as an initiative for a fresh autumn, spring or even winter fragrance. Even on cold summer days, it is difficult to assert itself.

If I think about it carefully, the disadvantage also has something positive. If this fragrance had a monstrous durability and sillage, I would probably reduce my collection by 80% and mostly wear it, which would be sad somewhere.
Although I still have the feeling that I haven't said everything I have planned, I will leave it at that. Some things simply cannot be put into words and perhaps exactly what I would like to describe is just my subjective perception.

This is also the reason why I would recommend at least one sample to everybody despite the weak H/S. You can't wear it often, but it's even nicer if it fits.

The most beautiful things in life are often of short duration.

More resentment than evaluation
I am a very positive person, yet I have to write my second commentary in one piece, for a rather negative reason, because I think that some scents are wrongly done here. I know, it doesn't matter, wear whatever you like and you're done. I'll do that. Nevertheless I would like to say something about this.

In the beginning: I'm not a fanboy of good Jeremy, to be honest, currently rather the opposite, because the interest to perfumes comes across a bit too emotionless to me. But that has nothing to do with here.
I think it's a pity that many fragrances, including this one, are judged very subjectively and personally. Whether you like Jeremy or not is up to you and I understand both sides. Granted, he was a great influence that brought me closer to perfume and I am grateful for that. The videos were simply entertaining back then. On the other hand, I first have to make friends with the idea that he is not a true representative of the passion for perfumes, but a businessman. Whatever you think about this topic, he seems to have done quite a bit right, considering what he has achieved.

Since I knew the price, I knew I wouldn't buy the fragrance. However, I've been looking for a simple office and everyday fragrance for a long time that you can always use without thinking about what you're spraying on. After a few considerations, you should choose between Reflection Man and Office for Men. I thought I already knew that I had chosen the Reflection Man anyway, but after a few opinions from my close friends and family, the result was more than clear in a direct comparison
Yeah, I know, a lot of them are "laymen" who don't do much with scents. But in the end over 95% of the people who walk around out there smelling our beautiful scents are "laymen". As far as the selection of an everyday fragrance is concerned, I give a lot to these opinions.

As I have said before, perfume is an extremely subjective subject and there is no right or wrong. What I don't understand, however, is how can a fragrance like this be badly talked about because it is a mixture of Aventus / Bleu de Chanel / Sauvage and other things, but at the same time it is rated significantly worse than an Explorer, which is also nothing else? Additionally there are over 40 ratings between 0 and 4, which is really underground but totally ok, if someone perceives it that way. But then how these persons have completely contradictory rated an Aventus with 9-10 and indicate as signature scent... that is simply envy.
The "scent" rating is often completely misinterpreted here and a number of other factors are taken into account, be it price, Jeremy's whims or anything else.

A few words about the Office for Men itself. To those who absolutely don't want to treat Jeremy to anything at all, please briefly imagine that the scent was released by another random house and I'm sure we'll come to a green path. So, for once, completely unbiased and without expectations. It starts very fresh and becomes woody with time, the whole thing with a shelf life of about 8 hours. That's about it. It isn't more, but it isn't less. He is certainly not groundbreaking, nor is he anything new. But it should never be, and that was clear from the beginning.
For my part, I can only claim that I have never had a fresh fragrance with such a long shelf life on my skin, which is quite an important criterion as an everyday fragrance.
You can read through the comments here and you will see that only those who express criticism receive many trophies and approval. Accordingly, I know what I'm doing well, but if only one or two of you, based on my comment, consider the matter a little more fairly from above, it has already been worth it.

Let's get something straight.
This was originally supposed to be a statement, but since it got a bit too long, it must be a comment. Then just a little more detailed.
First, I'd like to say a few words about the fragrance. It starts very nicely with a fruity-citric mixture and becomes more and more woody in the course of time, which I personally find very good. So you can wear it all year round without any problems. Shelf life and Sillage are as one knows it from Manceras, absolutely top. I sprayed the scent on my wrist again yesterday evening (now it's relatively early in the morning) and can still see the woody drydown very clearly.
In short: fragrance, durability, Sillage are definitely signature -worthy and can be worn all year round.
But now to the actual reason why I had to comment on this. In the meantime it is common in most perfume communities that every fragrance that combines something fresh or fruity with a woody accord is of course an Aventus imitation. In the worst case the scent even has a pineapple in the scent pyramid, then it gets at least one rating star less anyway, because that must be a dupe!
This thinking can and will be truthful in some cases, but sometimes, as with this one, it is just too narrow-mindedly thought or smelled.
Dior Homme Intense/Parfum were released some years before Prada L'Homme, known for the iris note, the Prada is now also a dupe? (I am aware that these smell of course clearly more differently than the Aventus "comparisons", this should only show that one can find parallels, if one looks for them absolutely)
The Cedrat Boise was released in 2011, the Aventus at the end of 2010. At that time it experienced much less hype than today and additionally it was smokier/darker than today and wouldn't be a comparison to the Cedrat Boise. in this version
Apart from all the "technical data", there are two completely different perfumes. As already described above, of course you will find similarities if you desperately search for it and I wouldn't attribute a golden nose to myself, but this huge difference is more than obvious in my eyes.
Sorry if this comment is a bit harsh, but such fragrances as Cedrat Boise are not appreciated enough. It is a well-done fragrance which is not subject to batch fluctuations. Don't get me wrong, I like the Aventus very much, but this one has very little to do with it.

Have a nice weekend, everybody.

It took a long time.
Oud Wood, almost an icon. What else can you expect from a man who was the first to dare and manage to make Oud mainstream. Tom Ford already proved with the M7 that an everyday fragrance doesn't necessarily have to stay away from the oud. Here he added a few more shovels and finished the whole thing even rounder, even more pleasant and even more flattering. (Not that the two scents have anything in common)
If I said I liked that scent from the beginning, I'd be lying. After reading a lot of very positive things about the fragrance, he disappointed me a little at first, to be honest. It took a few attempts until I understood that this fragrance is something really special.
First tried a few times in perfumeries, then lost sight of them. I ordered a sample, then I left it. But every time I held this little sample in my hand, I had to smell it. At some point, when I sprayed it on myself, I noticed for the first time how expressively this scent spreads. He embodies a mixture of self-confidence, charm and sovereignty but all in the most comfortable and warm form possible. At the same time expressive and reserved, according to the motto 'I may be seen calmly, because I know what I can do'.
The oud is very soft and pleasant throughout, which is rounded off even more by the cardamom note. In my opinion the scent is relatively linear and not very complicated, which is a good thing.
Rounding off a fragrance that took a little longer, but in the end is an integral part of my collection because it deserves it.

More than a "niche designer"?
Layton was my first niche fragrance and at the beginning I would like to briefly describe how it came about. Perfumes have been with me for a while now, but in the beginning it was of course mostly the designer sector. Say if you want to try a fragrance, off to the blue D and done. With increasing interest I found this forum here and finally Layton quite fast. My first order of bottlings therefore included Layton and Aventus, among others. What else? As I was getting closer to the mailbox, a cloud of scent rose into my nose that completely convinced me. I was just wondering which of the two fragrances I mentioned it might be and no matter which one it is, sooner or later it must be part of my collection. Package unpacked and found out that the Layton filling had unfortunately run out halfway, a pity, but when I think back, it was even worth it for this first impression.
So that's how I got this scent. Of course I tried it in different locations and have to say that I didn't feel very comfortable in the office because it's too loud for that... maybe I should have just taken one instead of three sprayers... whatever.
The fragrance is not linear, but in my opinion is not as extreme as some other fragrances. It starts sweet and stays sweet, but at the beginning rather fruity. Not fresh-fruity but rather like a very ripe fruit. Later, the sweetness is rather due to the vanilla and it becomes a little softer.
Although I've already read something about weaker batches, I can't confirm that. It lasts 8 hours without any problems and I would classify the Sillage as more than 3 hours. In this respect it is made for very cold days or parties.
Compliments are also inevitable. For those of you who value it, a little story to go with it. Of course, as a student you go out to celebrate one or two times or another. Already when I was picked up and got into the car, the girlfriend of a good friend let me know directly, "Oh today you smell good" (Gucci had put on Intense Oud the day before, she didn't seem to think it was bad but worse than Layton), whereupon another guy in the car directly added, "Yes, I thought that too!"
When we arrived at a friend's house for a "preglow", whom I didn't know before, we went to a club about three hours later. There the inhibition threshold was apparently lower and the previous host ran past behind me, turned around and shouted into my ear "Hey, I noticed earlier that you smell damn good, what have you got on it?"! ... by the way that was about 4 hours after spraying on, in a club, which already says a lot about H&S. By the way, this was one of the less compliments I got from someone I hardly know and in addition the most positive remarks in such a short time.
In summary, a beautiful, heavy, sweet fragrance that some would probably call a niche designer because it is actually very suitable for the masses. For me it's definitely much more, because just like you would expect from a Parfums de Marly, the quality speaks volumes here and so he has also without any problems the Ultra Male out of my collection. I would say that these two cannot be compared because of the enormous difference in quality, even if the fragrance and applications are very similar to the sweet-fruity vanilla itself. This will remain in any case a firm component of my collection, would recommend everyone this at least once to sample. Thanks for reading. :)
