BLEU de CHANEL stuck on

Yes, even I had a bottle of BLEU de CHANEL edp. Is it a bad fragrance? Nope. It wasn't for me though. It smells too tamed ,too sweet, and I prefer fragrances which are either more raw or more ambery, darker and more opulent or decadent.

What did I enjoy most  from it? The lovely spices in it. Ginger, pink pepper, coriander and nutmeg.

The best part of the fragrance is the drydown. Olibanum, sandalwood, labdanum, amber wood, patchouli. It is a great fragrance in hot weather. However, monsieur Olivier Ponge when will you create a new fragrance for men? CHANEL seems too stuck on this area.  *the perfumed balm for beard and longish hair is a lovely product for the urban dandy.

I tried it sometimes in the shop but I don’t know.. it’s just… it doesn’t leave an impression or something.

It is their last male fragrance. There's an extrait version but the edp is better in terms of longevity and trail.

@Ceesie It has a nice sillage but you have to wait for it . However, if you prefer stronger heavier fragrances it'll leave you indifferent towards it!

@Tzapan Hi!This is just my personal speculation and I have no proof. But it seems like big fragrance brands are focusing on young Asian women these days because Asia is still a big market. I think Chanel's new fragrance and Guerlain's recent AA are clearly targeting that demographic. It might be a while before Chanel makes a new men's line.

@Tzapan someone just recommended Bleu de Chanel to me (I'm trying to learn more "masculine" leaning fragrances), so I tried for the first time and love it - a classic, masculine blue fragrance!

@Gourmandgrl this particular blue masculine is mostly about what women want a man to smell like! It is a nice fragrance. It has good depth. But dear Chanel, move on a bit!

Yeah they seem to introduce a new men's line every decade (Antaeus - 1980, Egoiste - 1990, Allure Homme - 2000, Bleu de Chanel - 2010) but it's been 15 years since BDC

I didn’t realize BDC is the newest! It seems to be around for ages.

@Omnipotato it seems as if they are resting on their BDC laurels.
