Pleasant Oud scent from an interesting house!
Birkholz, never heard of it! What is that? Interesting!
I was quite blown away by the presentation of this house and its counter in an exclusive branch of a well-known cosmetics and perfume store chain here with us.
Here in Mannheim, there is a branch of this chain that also carries a selection of niche fragrances and houses like Armani Prive, Creed, Tom Ford, Atkinson, among others, and of course also Birkholz! Just the niche hits!
So I stood there in front of the Birkholz counter, quite surprised! Never heard of it, never seen it...
AHA, there I was, completely taken by the presentation. The beautiful bottles, the concept, the philosophy. The little stories and scent descriptions for each of the precious waters!
I tested the hits of the house like Lady Cannabis and others and went home a bit frustrated at first, because only Iconic Oud and Dark Amber really touched me. Both beyond my purchasing power!
At home, I looked at their website and my enthusiasm continued to grow. A German house, in Berlin, run by a sympathetic family. Passion and know-how. I absolutely wanted to have a fragrance from Birkholz in my collection. A must-have for a perfume lover, I think. But which one?
I was most taken by the scents from the Black Collection series, which, as mentioned, are beyond my financial means, so I decided instead of Iconic Oud to go for Supreme Oud, which is in no way inferior to the exclusive scent! (I now own Iconic Oud as a decant, Dark Amber too. Thanks to Angelina Patschuli!)
So I sniffed my way through all the Birkholz bottles at the big D during several visits to the store. (They don't even talk to me anymore, as they know I'm just sniffing)
Some great things in there, just sometimes very vanilla-heavy, and since I simply have a weakness for Oud, I just stuck with Supreme Oud and lurked around this bottle for weeks, as I had already spent a good 500 euros on decants etc., and wondered if it really had to be. Yes, it has to be, and there’s still parfumo. So I looked here and actually scored a bottle in the Souk!
Supreme Oud is a perfume for a grand appearance. Indeed!
If you are someone who can handle appearances well and shines with charisma against this scent, it is also quite wearable in everyday life.
It is opulent and addictive if you like Oud. If not, it might still work, because the Oud here is well woven with the other notes and harmonizes well. It is also a very pleasant, for me rather mild Oud! The stable Oud is not really my thing!
But overall, this scent is quite a hit. It hits hard. It's there! It's boom!
First, the pink pepper hits my nose - so great! It’s simply delicious, then cedar and patchouli. In the base, amber, musk, and oud ground the whole thing and give it a highly sensual character.
Definitely a perfume to spend on, as it stands out. I would definitely place it in the Noir direction, as it has very dark, but very warm undertones. A bit gourmand, but spicy. A bit sweet, but not cloying. This play of contrasts makes the scent very exciting!
Anyone who likes TF Noir Femme will also find satisfaction here! It goes in that direction for me!
The scent is unisex, and on the right man, this oriental gourmand Oud is surely irresistible! Especially on Noir women!
You should be ready for this scent; otherwise, it will swallow its wearer!

The perfect bridal perfume!
This is my first Xerjoff.
I am quite new to the niche world, and you quickly come across this house and its legendary fragrances.
So here is my first Xerjoff, namely Muse, which I received as my first scent within my perfume subscription that I signed up for. A good way, in my humble opinion, to get good and beautiful fragrances in high-quality small spray bottles and wear them extensively.
Sometimes 8 ml is enough, and then you're hooked and need the full bottle! Sometimes you want to wear a perfume only for a specific occasion, and for that, such a subscription is perfect!
Here with Muse, I would probably be fine with 8 ml, as I don't see this as an everyday scent for me, since I only envision this fragrance on delicate, girlish women, and that is not me; I am a dark woman. I don't see this scent as described as a tribute to strong feminist women, but rather to delicate fairy-like women. Although fairy-like women can also be strong feminists. That is not mutually exclusive!
Now to the special occasion.
With this scent, I envision a spring wedding, as for me, Muse is the perfect bridal fragrance.
A scent that a bride wears on a not-too-hot day in May, in a beautiful garden with very well-kept grass, wrapped in an airy vintage dress with lace and small flowers in her hair. The hair is curled and lightly pinned up, with the flowers woven in.
The bride carries a bouquet of white, pink, and blue flowers.
She wears a pair of high pumps peeking out from under the dress made of pink suede.
Bridesmaids scatter flowers along the path that the bride walks! People line her way on both sides, and at the end of the path waits her beloved!
I see all this, and it is on a delicate, girlish, fairy-like bride.
Right here, I see this scent as the perfect complement for a perfect day!
Or even in everyday life on exactly the type of woman described!
The scent is bright and light. Perfect for spring!
I don’t find it unisex! For men, except for delicate feminine androgynous types, it is hard to wear!
Since I don't plan to get married anytime soon, I will use up the scent or maybe swap it, as I don't see it on me. Nevertheless, I was curious about a Xerjoff and hope to find something wearable for me in this house. Maybe Opera or something from the Oud Stars!

What a pity!
What a pity, what a pity, what a pity!
But it's my own fault!
I ordered YiG blind, actually my first blind purchase. That's what happens when you arrive at Parfumo and go completely crazy. Fortunately, it was just a decant, albeit in a bold amount, but just a decant. Phew!
The bottle totally triggered me, the gold particles inside. What a dream! The descriptions and indulgence. Significantly influenced by perfume videos on YouTube.
So since I like to be a bit adventurous and wanted to get to know the system here, how it works with the souk and all, I ordered a decant and was thrilled to bits.
The scent is not carried by either the perfumery with the D or the esteemed Kurfürsten perfumery located here.
So about the scent: The ylang hits me so hard that it actually hurts my nose, along with coconut and vanilla. Phew. I should have known, because a lot of vanilla and coconut are not really my favorites, and now both together in one bottle. Ugh!
The scent envelops me so much that I feel like I have a visible cloud around me that everyone can see. I have the tendency to want to wash it off, just too much, too stuffy, too sweet, too much ylang ylang.
In the drydown, it becomes quite nice, pleasantly vanilla-powdery, but then it disappears quickly, leaving just a very close-to-skin remnant.
What a pity, the decant will move on as soon as I can souk myself, because for me it’s just too penetrating, almost a gas attack. I can't think of any occasion to wear it.
What a pity, I would have liked to integrate this beautiful bottle into my collection. But no, this Micaleff must move on!

My first Gaultier!?
Yes, this will probably be my first Gaultier. I never felt drawn to these fragrances in the distinctive bottles, even though I tried again and again. Not even the flagship scents touched me!
Until this pear came along. First thought, wow what an absolutely amazing bottle, he has outdone himself. What a beauty.
Second thought was 'oh this is probably not a scent for me. It's a Gaultier' I just never liked them!' I'm not even a fan of gourmand scents. They are tricky for me!
But this one is fantastic. I had to spray it a few times before it got me, but then it really did. It has the typical Gaultier DNA, which I usually don't like. It comes through but is well captured by this sweet, powerful, absolutely delicious pear. Almost cloying, almost too much, but that's what makes it great, that's the twist, so much that it's just awesome.
A scent like a pear dessert with cream and vanilla ice cream, sprinkled with roasted almond slivers. Simply delicious. I never thought I would want to smell like this!
Since an online perfume house is currently offering 30% off this fragrance, this grand bottle with grand content will probably end up in my budding collection.
Me and a Gaultier, who would have thought. Not me!!!
It’s probably this oudy, somewhat incense-like quality that I smell coming through, which makes it so attractive to me. I'm looking forward to autumn, because it's definitely not a summer scent.
That was my first review. Yippie!
