Hello lovely people!

In the past few months I've had the experience that seemingly overnight I can't stand to smell a certain perfume that I used to absolutely LOVE. For the longest time I was a big fan of Oud Sapphire by Blend Oud (it has a similar scent profile to the massively popular Oud Satin Mood by MFK), but every time I wear it now it feels too sweet, too rosey and simply too much to the point I have to scrub it off of myself. Similarly, when I first got Juliette Has A Gun Ode to Dullness I absolutely loved it, but now I just get notes of BO🙃😭

Has anyone had a similar experience and gone back to loving the perfumes they now can't stand? If so, do you know what changed?

I get it. I used to love Chanel’s Egoiste but I oversprayed it once and now I can’t stand it! Had to throw away the whole bottle.

Did you overspray it too perhaps because you loved it so much?

Perfume is a lot about association I think. I once smelled a perfume I loved on someone I didn't like and....never touched it again. Or I experienced something unpleasant when wearing a scent...same result. But I also notice my preferences do change over time.

On the positive side of this: the opposite thing can happen too: Maybe you will like a scent now that you put aside some time ago...Smile

Well...today I suddenly can't stand Boucheron (2011) Eau de Parfum any longer...very strange, I loved it before....Had been long since I tried it on again and...nope: had to scrub it off....Don't know what changed it: Latest formula?; change of taste? No idea (no bad associations or anything)...
