UK Brand Recommendations

UK Brand Recommendations 0

Hi all!

I'll be traveling to Manchester in a couple weeks and my hotel said they were willing to accept one small delivery for me to grab when I check in.  I want to buy samples of UK brands as I live in Portugal and there are duties on UK goods.  If you were in my position, and could only choose to make one order, what would you get?

Thanks!

Sounds wonderful! My favourite UK brand so far has been Aaron Terence Hughes which I definitely recommend. I have also heard that he has a boutique shop in Manchester so if it's still there I would think it's worth visiting for sure!

Maybe go for something Boadicea de Victorious? They have the most amazing bottles, and the perfumes are amazing as well.

Ormonde Jayne and Jo Malone! Be mindful that Jo Malone does EDC concentrations but they have very good fragrances and candles.

Ormonde Jayne is very high quality, classy fragrances.

Btw if you would like to order several fragrances from different brands and also at the same time browse which non-UK brands that are probably not available in your country are available in UK, you could also check the selections of some general fragrance webstores like The Perfume Shop, Superdrug and Boots. They all should deliver everywhere in UK. Superdrug and Boots have also a great selection of toiletries & cosmetics type stuff if you would need something like that during your trip and want to save some space or weight in your luggage so that you wouldn't need to take everything with you from your own country.

Thanks everyone! I hadn’t realized Ormonde Jayne was a UK brand. Definitely interested in ATH but was hoping to find sample sizes. @Lempi any specific recommendations from the house?

Jorum Studios is based out of Scotland and they have sample sizes so I’m eyeing those.

@krdent Oh ok, unfortunately I don't know so much about about sample sizes. But I can definitely recommend something from ATH, what are your favourite genres of fragrances? Floral, sweet, aquatic, boozy, woody, citrus..? Or any notes you're especially interested in?

I am looking for something for summer. I like unisex fragrances, not too sweet or floral, and have been enjoying raspberry and grapefruit notes for juicy and green scents.

Tempted by K*nt right now. It’ comes in a smaller size and raspberry, saffron and leather sounds like a great combo.

@krdent Nice! I haven't tested the one you mentioned but I can definitely recommend for example Ozone (2023), Neon (2023), Haze Extreme and Supernova ☺️

Awesome thanks! They’re sold out of neon but I have Ozone in my cart too Smile

Thanks @DRKSHDW! I had come across Sarah Baker before with some interest in Atlante, now checking the website it looks like they have sample sets! Now I'm deciding between 3 smaller volume bottles from Aaron Terrence Hughes or a sample set from Sarah Baker.

Enjoy your time in the UK! Whatever you choose, I’m sure it’ll be amazing. Have fun exploring and trying out new fragrances!

I got the Sarah Baker discover set and had a great time in Selfridge's trying other houses Smile

I am definitely not a Peach's Revenge girl but testing Atlante today

testing Atlante today

@krdent Oh, I liked Atlante! Or, I wanted to. I think the combo of citrusy yuzu, pepper, and ambergris ended up feeling too much like a seafood dinner. But I should revisit it.

So wonderful to hear that you have enjoyed your time in UK! 🥰🙏 I'd love to visit Selfridges some day. I've been to London once about 15 years ago but only so briefly that I didn't have any time for fragrance shopping. Now as my husband is Scottish and we're spending time in Scotland a lot we've been thinking would be nice to visit England and some of the Selfridges stores also at some point. ☺️

Selfridges in Manchester was great! Tons of brands and the workers were really friendly and inviting.  I had a lovely experience, especially with the Dries Van Noten line.

The brand "Floris of London" is cheaper in the UK (like VERY much cheaper).
