Remote from nature

When I encountered this perfume for the first time in my life, I was a teenager and hated it on the spot. Never before had I come across anything so artificial and chemical. Over the years, I have often revisited this scent, I tried to appreciate it, but never quite succeeded. To me, it will always remain harsh and soapy, - and I will never understand why perfume critics like Turin talk about "rose" in the context of "White Linen". To me, this perfume smells of hospitals and chrome. It does not inspire me with any positive feelings at all - one of the perfumes which are as remote from nature (i.e. flowers!) as you can possibly get.

Not bad, but the performance leaves a lot to be desired

Now I'm taking another look at an older miniature. Now it's the turn of White Linen Eau de Toilette. This soapy chypre fragrance is fine for me so far. However, the longevity is really bad and the sillage is hardly any better. After 2 hours, the whole thing smells very close to the skin and after about 3 to 4 hours I can't smell anything anymore.

The top note starts fresh, green and citrusy with bergamot and some aldehydic notes. It then becomes beautifully floral thanks to lily of the valley and rose water. The heart note remains floral with iris, violets and garden carnations. This is followed by vibes of fabric softener and soap. The base smells earthy and root-like with moss and vetiver.

This is not a great fragrance, but not a bad one either, in contrast to the weak performance. My mini can move on.
