A Fierce Amazonian Rose
Suddenly Fragrances Chalou is a new perfume that has recently appeared on the shelves of the LIDL chain. But in reality, it is not a new perfume, being inspired by a fragrance that has been around since at least 2008. But it is new to me since I did not know Chloé (2007) Eau de Parfum until I felt it on a friend of mine I hadn’t seen for a long time. Chalou is a light, fresh, and powdered floral with notes of citrus, aquatic flowers, and mellifluous accords.

Chalou promises to be fruity and sweet. A watery fruit and a wet peony create a pleasurable sensation. The rose appears promptly, just too powdery on my skin, and the opening is soapy with a juicy fruit note that should be lychee, juicy with pink accents. The rose is bright, full of acid, and slightly honeyed. An almost metallic edge completes the sharpness of acidity running through the sweetness, and a green-grassy character prevents everything from turning into a box of frosting. They perfectly balanced it like a superb wine: the sweetness, acidity, and herbaceous accords create perfect harmony. Unlike most fragrances which boast a bright and spicy opening, here we find a dominant British rose, delicate and suave, so dusty, dewy, seductive,

At the heart, a dewy magnolia adds an aquatic bed in which to lie down. I thought it was a strange waxy rose; but, over time, I realized that strange waxy rose means magnolia in the olfactory language. The essence transforms into a cocktail of freshly rubbed tea rose, magnolia, and lily of the valley. It is almost painfully cool, damp, musty.

The finish is the most heavenly woody and amber composition I have ever experienced on my skin as far as feminine classified fragrances are concerned. I have a lot of musks and nothing in this perfume is sweet, not even the supposed amber accord at its base. Chalou keeps the acidity well even in the bottom. I go nuts for the rose dewy petals and cedarwood dry shavings blend. It’s not so light though as to be a skin scent. It is noticeable in terms of projection and lasts a decent amount of time.

Chalou is a charming and simple perfume. One thing I like is that it is a flexible fragrance, suitable for different occasions. Great for work, a carefree weekend, or a night out. She has an innocent but sexy charm. Whenever I wear or smell Chalou, the image that comes to mind is fragrant rose petals and sheets. Yes, sheets. Freshly laundered cotton sheets. Maybe he’s not that innocent after all! It does not undergo noticeable development on my skin. What I get on the first spray sticks to me. I am happy with this. It is not at all cloying, and longevity is amazing for this perfume. I know it’s an EDP, but I didn’t expect it, simply because every time I wear it, it feels like it wears off after a while. I think it is a perfect everyday scent, but I think it is better for the Spring and Fall seasons, and perhaps Summer nights. Another delightful discovery in the world of cheap perfumes.

I based the review on a 75ml bottle I have owned since May 2021.

Chloe
The scent smells almost like Chloe, just more intense. The original is more floral and a bit sweeter. Additionally, it lasts much longer and you need to spray significantly less. In that respect, there is initially a cost saving, but it does not pay off. For summer, however, the Lidl scent is very suitable because it is lighter and thus evaporates more quickly.

Really well done, slightly softer Chloé (better than Cuté).
Less longevity and sillage. Good for when you prefer something more subtle.

A very airy, light, fresh rose scent. Nicely done for the price. Longevity is acceptable, sillage is rather subtle.

Spring-fresh rose scent. The initially intense green soapy note fades over time. Acceptable longevity and sillage.

Like Chloé EDP - sweet, light. Much better than LR Cuté. Longevity & sillage are terrible. Bottle is pretty, cap is trash.

My neighbor wears it. The stairwell still smells of her for a while after she leaves the house. Beautiful, lovely, and never unpleasant.

Honeydew melon, rose, fabric softener, fresh & lovely. I sorted it out and then bought it again. I really like it!

The scent is lovely, but it only lasted 1 hour on me. Cute by La Rive was definitely longer-lasting and smelled noticeably more like Chloe.

It doesn't remind me of Chloe at all, more like Lacoste Touch of Pink or Chanel Chance. However, it's not a particularly distinctive scent.
