Low budget version of No. 5 EdP
Lidl does Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfum and you might want to consider trying this supermarket-version of an old classic. If your life-style calls for an expenditure-cut and you have a relaxed attitude to brand-names in general, "Suddenly Woman I" will pleasantly surprise you. Of course, it doesn't smell 100% like Chanel No. 5 EdP (let alone like the extrait or like the Eau de Toilette, all of them being different scents), but it's quite close to Jacques Polge's 80's eau de Parfum version with the same oily and somewhat artificial woody drydown. In a blind test (I loooove blind tests!) two women (my daughter, my colleague) and one man took "Suddenly Woman I" for Chanel No. 5 EdP.
Now - how could the supermarket-chain come up with 50 ml of a decent and long-lasting (!!!) Chanel-dupe for the price of 4.90 Euros? The production of pefume seems to be an extremely cheap business those days.

RIP, dear dupe of Chanel n.5!
I usually go to the lidl shops here in Italy and not only for the food but mainly for the good cosmetics at very affordable prices and obviously I am a fan of the fragrances, perfect dupes of great classics such as J'adore or Coco Mademoiselle and, last but not least, n.5.
This fragrance so strong and ladylike was really the PERFECT dupe of the legendary scent by Chanel, the one worn by Marilyn Monroe as a pijama when She went to bed.
Maybe this dupe was a little more bitter than the original one, dominated also by a very feminine and round Jasmine, while here were the aldehidic notes the first to hit my nose. Anyway, a very good product and a surprisingly good longevity at a quite ridiculous price: about 5 € for a 50ml size.
So, maybe you're asking me why I am using the past : simply, today I went to the Lidl store of my town, sure to test and maybe to buy this fragrance and....what a terrible surprise! There wasn't anymore on the shelves. I watched online, but nhere wasn't any trace, Disappeared, lost , who knows?
I went out so disappointed .... sure, I know very well other good dupes of Chanel n.5(being a synthetic-based scent, it isn't so difficult to replicate its bouquet ), but with a so strong sillage and concentration there was only Woman I . I'm waiting for some news and maybe a new edition of this scent , it seems so strange to me....I think that there will be many fans wainting for an answer. At the moment , let me say "rip, Woman I, you were the numeber one...or, better, the number 5!"

This is superb!
I was waiting eagerly for the day I will have this Lidl version of the epic Chanel No.5.

Suddenly Woman I really made me question the real cost of a perfume, the price we pay, and particularly the gap between if it is possible to make such a successful and well-performing, plus well-behaving, non-nasty dupe of No. 5. Don't get me wrong, I will pay for luxury and yes I do have the original EDT as well which this dupe is after for. They aren't the same, but considerably close in performance. The real deal has more depth, but me here actually comparing the two side by side shows what a good job Lidl did with this one.

It may well be that today, Chanel No. 5 contains a lot less naturally derived ingredients (if there is still any in it, being one of the first and most successful -mainly- artificially composed perfumes of the time already).

No matter what I will always love and wear the original, but if you do want to complement it with a well-made dupe, look nowhere else and further. This is especially valid if you like to generously spritz yourself like me - from top to toe -. I have personally did this with only Suddenly Woman I as well, and I am pretty happy with the result. Sillage and longevity is also good! And when I decide to wear my No. 5, I believe I will *save* by reserving Lidl's version for my feet.

That's a must have, all I say!

Lidl is discontinuing the fragrance - if you like it, stock up now
I had heard rumors that Lidl would no longer offer Suddenly Woman 1 and Suddenly Diamonds. Upon my inquiry via email, I received confirmation: "We regret to inform you that we have discontinued 'Suddenly Woman 1' and 'Suddenly Diamonds' and will no longer offer them. The variety 'Suddenly Madame Glamour' will still be available as usual in our stores."
What a pity!

Half-Fat Margarine
After reading all the enthusiastic comments about Suddenly Woman and being a big fan of Chanel No 5 myself, I immediately rushed to Lidl to acquire this masterpiece of perfumery. I ended up putting two bottles in my shopping cart, because at this unbeatable price, you can't go wrong - or so I thought...

At home, I tore open the packaging with eager hands, pulled out the quite decent bottle, and sprayed it on with joyful anticipation. And then the disappointment! The top note vaguely reminds me of Chanel No 5, but what follows has only the faintest connection to it. The scent develops an unpleasant note on my skin, which comes off a bit stale and musty - I also miss the elegance of the original.
Sprayed both on my skin - Suddenly on the left, Chanel on the right, I can hardly recognize any similarities apart from a certain olfactory overlay.

For me, Suddenly Woman has as much in common with Chanel No 5 as half-fat margarine does with sweet cream butter - it is by no means a satisfactory substitute.
Maybe the creators of Suddenly ran out of supplies from the hijacked Chanel container and I had to settle for a homemade version ;-)

All of this is, however, my personal feeling and can, regardless of subjective perception, also be due to body chemistry, which has a significant influence on scent development. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Those who find the scent to be a worthy Chanel substitute are lucky, because you can't get such a precious perfume any cheaper!

There are similarities to No. 5, but Chanel smells much better. Softer, more harmonious. This one is surprisingly good for 5 €.

An affordable alternative to classic Chanel fragrances. Surprisingly intense with aldehydes, jasmine, and sandalwood. A great insider tip!

Chanel No 5 (EdP) is quite similar, the progression is different, I miss the vanilla. But it's definitely an acceptable scent.

It's available again in the online shop. A really good dupe for Chanel No.5, hardly distinguishable, not quite as rounded as the original.

Haven't had Chanel N°5 in my nose for a while - this one definitely triggers the memory. Powdery-aldehydic cleanliness.

A very intense scent that's not suitable for everyday wear. But it definitely doesn't smell 'cheap' - it's quite 'feminine' in a way.

Initially has a very musty character. However, it develops into a solid dupe of N5.
