Coconut freshness

It’s not bad. But it definitely isn’t the tropical coconut. Tropical flower, sweet vibe that it sounds like it should be based on the description and notes provided. It smells more like a fresh coconut and the ocean. I don’t get much of the rest of the notes. I feel like it’s more what you want in a fresh shower gel.

I'm confused

Based on the notes, this one puzzles me. I tried it because I have been known to love a beachy coconut fragrance in the summer, but I think because it was missing some of the other tropical notes I also enjoy, it fell flat. The opening was heavily floral to me; I didn't get any trace of cardamom or even much in the way of citrus, which was a confusing start. Then I got the coconut and white florals, but it wasn't giving anything remotely beachy. The dry down was primarily musky, a hint of woods, and those lingering white florals. Maybe I can get the slightest whiff of heliotrope or vanilla orchid if I squint, or maybe I'm imagining it. If you'd like to try a fresh take on coconut, if you don't like the typical tropical coconut fragrances, you might enjoy this more than I did.

Warm, woody coconut

This is a very *smooth* feeling summer scent. Not like a fresh ocean breeze, but like a calm, still day where you can feel the sun warming your skin.

It's quite sweet on first sniff. On application, it was kind of reminiscent of the OGX coconut hair oil I used in college, which made it seem a little synthetic, which does scare me away from reaching for it often, but it does improve as it dries down. The citrus, vanilla, and sugar fades after a couple hours and it crosses the bridge from coconut-gourmand to coconut-amber-woody. Throughout, there's bit of what I'd just generalize as "girl smell"--some amalgam of of musk and flowers that I also found in Skylar's Pink Canyon.

Performs better than most other Skylar fragrances I've tried, and I've tried many.

My husband likes all my fragrances, but this one seems to stand out as "sexy" to him. (But that man compliments the scent of my spray tans, so...grain of salt.)

Synthetic coconut that couldn't be saved by the white flowers...

I was introduced to Skylar because of Vanilla Sky and Fall Cashmere. One of them will have to be tested again now that I'm farther down the rabbit hole of fragrance (I remember not liking the coffee as much), but the second one was an instant love and now a staple in my collection. I was thus interested in going through the whole house. I got the opportunity to snag a travel sample size of Coconut Cove instead of buying a travel size and I'm so glad I did.

The user votes about the main accords of this perfume are pretty spot on. It's extremely synthetic and that is the first thing that repulsed me. I have previously smelled other perfumes containing coconut and Coconut Cove has a plastic aspect to it that is not enjoyable. I can't even associate the coconut to sunscreen or beach vacations because I find it way off. The sweet part is not that obvious to my nose although I do smell it a bit (as an afterthought). The creamy accord clearly comes from the white flowers in the middle note but even they can't save this whole scent. I did smell a faint fresh lemony scent at the beginning but it was immediately overwhelmed by the plastic coconut that's clearly the star trying to hog the spotlight.

I'm sad to say this will not be an addition to my collection. I really love Skylar, but this is not it. Save your money and go look elsewhere if you're in search of a nice coconut scent.
