Boardwalk Delight

When I first got this I made a review about how I was unhappy how much this smelled so much like laundry detergent and didn't get much cotton candy to it. I wrote it off too soon as I have a bad habit of doing so. I can be very impatient with fragrances sometimes and this was no exception. I had actually sold the rollerball I had. When I saw it now came in a full bottle I decided to buy it and give it another chance. I deleted the original review I made of this because since then I have worn it a lot more and since then I do smell the cotton candy on the dry down. I still smell the laundry detergent but I actually enjoy it now because it makes it fresh but still has the sweetness from the cotton candy note. I still love pure cotton candy scents such as "BBW Cotton Candy Couds" (Good for pairing together) but this is nice if I want to smell both fresh and sweet.

Fresh, light and airy cotton candy

Oooh this one is a beauty! I was fortunate to receive a sample of it with a Sephora purchase (even though it wasn't in the sample choices) and I'm glad I got it. Since I just finished Skylar's discovery set, I thought it'd be fitting to try out one of their perfumes.

The raspberry sorbet note at the beginning is a delight. It's soft, but sweet, with a slight tang of fruity juiciness. I don't smell the apple much, although I do think it contributes to the overall freshness and fruitiness I detect during the top notes. As time passes, it becomes more creamy sweet and delicate, with a nice light, airy feeling. I also start to smell spun sugar and vanilla. I do get why people feel it smells like laundry detergent as there is a freshness and lightness to it, but my nose also picks up on the sugared accord which drives away this association (at least to me). There's an underlying warmth in the drydown that probably comes from the combination of amber and musk, but it's a comforting warmth, like being wrapped in a comfy sweater during a cooler summer night. The drydown is a sugared vanilla with a slight floral twang.

This is a beautiful interpretation of cotton candy and child nostalgia. One of the gourmands I wouldn't mind wearing during warmer weather (when most of my gourmands are a no-no during heat). It's pretty light, inoffensive, but has good longevity. The sillage does start to taper off after an hour or two, but since I can keep smelling myself, who cares? A full bottle might be making its way to my collection one day!

This made me happy

I saw Kathleen Lights do a quick review that gave this a shout out, and since a lot of her favorites are also mine, I shrugged and ordered the travel size. I didn't expect much, since it is definitely not my usual scent profile, but to my surprise I really like this. A lot. I have been layering this with pretty much everything since I got it, and it has enhanced every single scent it has been paired with. Definite full bottle worthy when the travel size is done. A bit bummed that it is limited edition, though.

If Lost Boys was a fragrance...

If the movie “Lost Boys” was a fragrance, it would be Skylar's Boardwalk Delight! It’s a summery perfume that captures the fun of California beach days. The mix of creamy coconut milk and sweet cotton candy instantly reminds one of being young and having a blast at the beach with friends, while smelling delicious at the same time. While I know some people say the scent is only for the young, I say have fun and wear what you like, no matter what your age! Is it appropriate for the office? No, but you weren’t going to wear it to the office anyway. It’s a sweet, fun fragrance that smells amazing and puts me in a fantastic mood. If only it lasted longer, I would wear this all summer!

Airy Cotton Candy

I was expecting something a lot heavier based on the name (when I think about boardwalk snacks the first thing I think of is funnel cake) but this is probably the lightest gourmand I've ever tried! It's sweet and fluffy and bright and for whatever reason it reminds me of the summer of 2012, even though this wouldn't be released for another decade. I got a sample of this in my Sephora order and I could see myself getting a rollerball for the summer. Smells like Sugarful Eau de Parfum but lighter and with a more tropical twist.
