Capri Summer Skylar 2021

Unlike others, I don’t get an overly synthetic citrus from this. It’s definitely a basic aquatic citrus scent, one of Skylar’s least imaginative offerings, but it’s not offensive to my nose. I enjoy an aquatic scent, and I enjoy citrus, but this is nothing special. And, as is typical for Skylar, the lasting power is pretty bad and not worth the price.

I do wear this one every now and again, often on a real hot day. The citrus is refreshing and juicy. I'll give it that. But as a fragrance with top/middle/base notes, it's just not what I was hoping for.

Whenever I smell this, it seems more like a wall of notes instead of something gorgeously layered. I crave a bit more tang or sourness from the bergamot across the top. Instead, I get kind of generic, muddled citrus. The florals, too, are a little tough to distinguish and seem to tone down the citrus rather than help it shine. I don't get much of the base notes at all, even after dry-down, which I think is what's ultimately giving body spray vibes. There's just not a ton of complexity here, and those notes I do get aren't all that impressive.

Capri Summer is off to a wrong start as, when the scent hits my nose, I'm immediately reminded of air freshner (?!). The citruses (which are usually one of my favorite family of notes) smell wrong, generic and almost synthetic. I don't get a tangy bergamot, blood orange is way too subdued and grapefruit smells powdery, and grainy (almost like a pear). Those three combined gave me citrus air freshner (I have a brand and a name in mind, but will be sparing you the details). Unfortunately, it never really get any better after that. The flowers start to emit a fresh accord which only further enhances the air freshner vibe. Lily of the valley and neroli also give off a soapy vibe, but it's not really well-balanced. Roses are not my kind: old and powdery. Towards the end, there's a woodiness that comes out which I thought didn't really fit the theme of the perfume. It dries down to a vague, generic floral and woody scent.

I'm a little bit disappointed in this one as I thought it'd be pleasant based on the notes. It's just way too generic and synthetic to my nose. There are better citruses out there (some are in my collection, ehehe), which is why I'll completely be skipping on this one. On to the next one!
